I really thought my HV would come back and see me  I just rang and they said they don't usually see you again after the first time unless you say you're having problems... Why didn't they tell me that then? Or at least tell me when/where to go and get her weighed. :(

    <-- Feels abandoned :o

Anyway i just found out that weigh clinic is today (finishes at 12) or Friday pm so will have to go then. I thought i'd have been a good candidate for being seen again since i'm totally alone and considering i was given ad's during pregnancy.
Also rang to let them know i still have the gas and air from my HB 5 weeks ago rolleyes-1.gifrolleyes-1.gif

Back from the group. Shan't be going again. It was nice and all, but I'm terribly judgemental and it was in too deprived an area. Too many dummies, bottles of juice, screaming, dirty and fake designer clothes, mums sneaking off for a fag etc. O felt a bit odd with my cuddly, shy babygrowed baby in a sling! Sorry if that all sounds terrible, I just felt very posh and out of place, despite being not very posh at all.

Sorry I did ask earlier, but maybe not very clearly as I was rushing off for the school run....what is the documentary that was referred to as finding out there was a problem with Tigs baby?
    weezl74 wrote: »
basically (but tigs will explain this loads better) she was having fortnightly scans and all was well at the 29? week one, so next would have been 31. The documentary makers bumbled filming that scan somehow (detail escapes me) and so an extra one was done in between the 2 scheduled ones. At that scan it was revealed that Andrew wasn't getting all he needed from the placenta (something had started to go the wrong way?) and he needed out PDQ. Apparently without that extra scan they don't know if he would have been ok.

I'm sorry tigs if I've done a bodge of telling that!

    Nope, you did pretty well!

Mel, I'm involved in a documentary for BBC3 called "Seven Ages of Pregnancy" as I'm a "mature" first-time Mum (being screened this summer). They've filmed me n Marley at the house, stuff like that. I was already on fortnightly u/s & doppler scans due to a problem with placental bloodflow. The crew were due to film the scan at 27wks, but had to rush away to film someone else's labour, so an extra un-scheduled scan was organised one week later. At that scan, we were being filmed as the Docs told us the placental bloodflow had in fact failed and, if not for that extra scan, Andrew would have died in-utero. I had two days of steroid injections, which improved things for a week; then the bloodflow stopped again and Andrew had to come out by emergency c/section.

They filmed Andrew at 3/4 days old in NICU, and our reactions to the situation. And they've since been back and filmed our triumphant home-coming, 11 weeks later. Apparently we're the "tear jerker" story of the documentary, and the BBC insisted they come back and film the happy ending :)

Oh, and the even spookier thing. My placental bloodflow problems weren't picked up at the 12wk & 20wk scans. They were only noticed because I volunteered for research (due to my age) which involved an extra u/s & doppler scan at 21wks. Otherwise we wouldn't have had a clue about any problem, and we'd have definitely lost Andrew.
