Did anyone on here not go onto Follow On Milk and stay on Stage 1?
Am surprised at a response to my poll about going onto cows milk at 6months (confused)
With number 1, I breastfed for the first four months, then switched to SMA gold because I discovered I was pregnant again, and he stayed on gold until he was 1, when we started on cow's milk. That was back in the day when weaning onto solids started at 4 months, and you could use dairy as a first food though. Number 2 was breastfed for 10 months with occasional SMA feeds if I was out and went onto cows milk a little after her first birthday. She did have follow on but only because it came in handy lbigger sachets than the gold, and we didn't use formula often enough to make it worth having a tin of the stuff on hand. No real difference between the health of the two of them to be honest (or none that could be attributed to food anyway, Number 2 has some disabilities though). This time round, we are on SMA gold again for one feed a day, but he is too young to start on follow on milk. Can't see me changing it at 6 months though unless the local shop runs out of gold!0 -

. I've barely seen him today as he did a night last night, slept all morning then has been at work all afternoon. I'm so glad I have him home all day tomorrow, although he's working tomorrow night again. Sometimes shifts suck
.
I'm not looking forward to the shifts GISI - although sometimes he'll be at home during the week so it'll be more peaceful for us with the big two at school, and sometimes he'll be on nights and I get the bed to myself! So its not all bad.

I keep meaning to ask about raisins. Is there a reason why babies shouldn't have them? I let Benjamin have them, since he could pick them up individually, but I keep thinking that I am doing wrong according to 'them'.
Clever Kai - We have a spoon each, but she prefers to play drums with hers, then throw it and use her hands!
We love raisins MFD and they're excellent for perfecting the pincer grip.(Not much help at perfecting the pointing though
)
Happy 16th Birthday Angelas DD1. Does it feel like it was 16 years ago, or last week?:beer:0 -
Def sont go on to cows milk at 6 months Glam. I stayed on normal SMA blue I think with Jasmine, but that was in the days when breast is best wasnt rammed down your throat (sorry, but it is) so 6+ stuff wasnt as popular. It was introduced a lot more as they are only allowed to advertise the 6+ stuff and not normal baby formula. Dont think I will be changing this time eitherThe two best things I have done with my life

Glam when the girls were babies no such thing as follow on milk that I can remember off and my HV says makes no difference as long as they have a good diet.Baby boy 8/05/090

Benjamin has had a taste of chocolate cake but hadn't had any chocolate until naughty Violet sent him some milkybar by fairy post!! Although mummy ate most of itRaisins..... I asked about raisins years ago when DD was young as people often told me to avoid them but no one could answer why, eventually i found out from my dentist that they advice not to give them (sultanas etc too) because the skin can get caught between teeth and gums and as they are high in natural sugars or something of the sort they increase tooth decay if not removed properly in young children.
hmmm think that's the first time I've actually been help full with my trivial knowledge :T
Thank you three! Does that mean that it doesn't matter whilst he only has 2 teeth and I make sure I clean all around them!!
Mel - Benjamin has eaten 20 grapes today  he loves them!
Glam, what was the consensus re: cows milk at 6 months? Hubby was on moo milk from birth, he wouldn't drink formula or condensed milk (the accepted alternative 43 years ago!!!)please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

I won't be going onto cows milk don't worry was just surprised to see it on there as a suggestion!
The Aptamil is so expensive so I think I will change milks when he gets to around 6months sounds like lots of people use SMA. Ah there's 3 weeks between now and then so who knows what I'll be thinking then!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Oooh, cake, yes please
But I'm off to bed now. Molly just went down after some strenuous swing dancing (it's guaranteed to get giggles and be tiring, but my old knees can barely take it). My browser just crashed and emptied my virtual shopping basket of my new mattress and bed and I have had enough of today.
