    You are not alone :)

I get the child tax credit one as well. but i'm not sure if its the severe disability premium, or just a disability premium.

I've tried to give them a call a few times about it, but they say the same thing everytime. "not everyone is being payed at once" and that i may have to wait weeks.

I said later is not good enough. the money to put extra gas on is needed now, while its sub zero temperature.

. We have and will always needs the safety net of a benefit system but its NOW part of our culture which was NEVER what it was intended for..........
Entitlement should be linked to NI stamps....

Question: Why is Energy so Expensive???? Answer: Because the industry is Privatised and profit driven..

Iv'e highlighted this part of my post because some people who have posted replies to my original post seemed happy to totally ignore what I wrote..

To those who say "Don't judge me until you've walked in my shoes" well I have walked in your shoes. I was laid of work 3 Christmases in a row in the 90's (off work for 4 months at a time) because my wife worked more than 16hrs a week all we got was a bit off the council tax even though she only earned £100 a week.We have also lived on "Beans on toast" been afraid to put the heating on etc .

I also had Chronic Asthma up until my late teens and I firmly believe in paying all the tax etc that I pay now I am going some way to "Paying back" the system for the NHS treatment and care I received.

All I can say is people slated my post on the basis of sections of it rather than the complete post and the overall statement I was trying to get across, they have done exactly what they accused me of, "Tarring all with the same brush".......

Sorry AOTG I won't post again but had to reply..

the "call handler" didnt even have the decency to check my national insurance number, or even have a look into it at all.

just the usual half arsed excuse.

and sorry but how are we lucky to get them? I've had to dip into my bill money, to pay for yet more gas, so i'm probably going to have to cough up a £35quid bank charge.

    lucky indeed.

Very few countries give CWP's, so you are lucky in that respect. Whilst few people would feel lucky to be on benefits, if you do find yourself having to claim, the UK has one of the most generous systems in the world.
    Gone ... or have I?

I have to agree with Julio here, this has certainly been my experience, I have to tell them can you take my NI number and check the system. Also the call handler telling you to phone here there and everywhere as it has nothing to do with them

I am eligble for CWP and have had so far one trigger but not received payment yet. However, I will not be phoning them up to complain, I will keep an eye on my account, further triggers and wait a few weeks before phoning to enquire. I treat it as a welcomed extra - lets face it, many throughout the country are finding it difficult (many who aren't eligible for CWP) and worried about the inevitable extra costs with heating etc. What if you weren't eligible for CWP or that they didn't exist, you would still be spending the same amount on heating wouldn't you?

I have an illness, disability and have just had major surgery and therefore have had to up my heating. Although I'm finding extra costs difficult and also worried about heating costs as many others, but there is very little I can do about it. Yes times are hard but I will keep myself warm and be very grateful for the CWP when it arrives. Perhaps I should complain about others having more triggers than me although it is still bitterly cold where I am?

Yes. Unfortunately sometimes you have to be a bit 'firm' to get the information you need. These operators have the money to turn on their heating!
Watch out people. You don't know what lurks around the corner for you![/SIZE]

the woman i spoke to said theres no point in me checking your NI number, cause i won't be able to check if you have been issued any payments.

by the tone of her voice, it was obvious she was either to lazy to check for me, or she just couldnt care less.
