I thought that getting free prescriptions worked on the same sort of rules as CWP (ie. only income based benefits qualifying), so I think it is interesting that you qualify for one but not the other. I would have thought that getting free prescriptions or not would follow the same rules for IVB, IB and ESA (contributions versions) as aren't these supposed to be basically the same thing?
Whenever I think that I sort of understand the logic behind the welfare system I hear of a case that makes me feel all confused again!
some medical conditions also get free prescriptions,e.g epilepsy0 -
I typed in my post code this is what happened
The Met Office have notified the Department for Work and Pensions that 3 periods of very cold weather have occurred in the **** postcode area between 1 November 2009 and 30 December 2009, triggering Cold Weather Payments.
If you have qualified for Cold Weather Payments since 1 November 2009 and live in this postcode area, you should have received 3 Cold Weather Payments.
So am i due 3 lots of £25???????? I have only recieved one payment of £25 this week ??

but we still dont get CWPs when we are both very ill and have such a low income as to to be awarded free health costs, hows that right?
Your income is higher than those on the qualifying benefits.
As noted previously, if you wish to discuss whether this is fair or not, please post on DT.Gone ... or have I?0 -

If you are having trouble keeping your kids warm maybe you should be phoning Social services on Monday not the DWP!
would you like to explain that comment ??
the DWP are the people who give out the benefits so logically I will phone them they can advise me on my best course of action
Social services are the department to contact if your children are at risk. My children are not at risk.
We are able to feed, clothe & wash our children quite easily. We also are able to heat our property under normal circumstances. The week we had the cold weather I got through around £40 on gas. we normally spend £15.
Luckily I have a kind mother who put £30 on our meter on 28/12 so we had only 2 days without heating. My mother is a pensioner so can not afford to do that regularly.
My point was why should my temperature station be in kent if i live in essex, kent is the other side of the water to us so their weather will always be different to ours.
I hope to have a job soon so I wont have to worry about all this. I will also be changing to Ebico in a couple of weeks so my £35 will last twice as long!!
One final point, I checked the distances between the 2 stations & as was correctly pointed out, one is closer than the other. I also checked Havering atte bower & they are closer to gravesend than Andrewsfield so why do they get theirs different??
I would also love to know why essex doesnt have its own weather station ?? its a big enough borough. BTW I mean no offence to anyone but this just really P's me off :mad:0 -

You say your children are not a risk, yet you don't know how to keep them warm when the weather get a bit colder than normal
Duvets, blankets, extra layers of clothing that's how you keep your children warm if you cannot afford to buy gas/electric.*SIGH*0 -
