SunnyGirl that wool sounds like the wool I have been using to knit scarves - I have made 10 now for different people, once people see them they always say they want one!! Knits up really quickly too!

So I've just bought a bottle of Baileys- quite unlike me, I don't think I've tasted it since 1986. I know it is whiskey and cream but what else is in it? There are no ingredients listed which seems strange but I suppose drinks have different regulations.
What's the nicest way to partake -neat, mixed or over ice?
Tall glass, couple of ice cubes about 1/3 baileys to 2/3rds milk.....sounds minging - tastes divine! If you have any malibu a splash of that finishes it perfectly but without is fine

Just a quick update to all - DH has just found out that he hasn't been accepted for redundancy. Needless to say, he's gutted as the money would've come in useful for both increasing the house deposit and allowing him to train to become a black cab driver. Now have to rethink and make a new plan as he will have to leave his current job as I don't think he can cope mentally working for such an organisation any longer...
B*GGER!!!! :mad:Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,

Thriftlady - I like baileys in coffee or over ice creamor neat....
I've been awol a few days, everything here as snowballed into crazy and I've not a second to myself. I have a sore throat and am feeling a bit under the weather.
I am a little annoyed with my little sister. I'm trying not to be, but I'm on the verge of losing my temper. You might remember a couple of months ago I posted that I was really worried about her because she was so upset about her financial situtation. She worried us all a great deal, especially my parents - who themselves are not in great shape moneywise (my dad is tied into a franchise, which although breaks even to cover the buisness outgoings, doesn't pay a wage) Well... last week she bought an iPhone - as she needed it (bearing in mind she is unemployed and not entitled to JSA) - and I'm struggling with the lack of sense, but more with the fact she scared the c*** out of me and upset my parents. I don't often get annoyed, but I don't get some people's definition of need sometimes. I guess in a way I should be thankful she doesn't understand (she's too young to remember how my parents struggled financially when my brother and I were little), but that rationalisation isn't entirely cancelling out my wish to slap her at the moment.
I tried to make some felt in the washing machine and it looks lovely - that is - it would look lovely if I could peel it of the fabric I wrapped it in :rotfl: Ah well, you win some you lose someI will have another go manually (I was just being lazy).
I haven't finished my Christmas shopping. I am going to buy gift vouchers for everyone (as my family don't appreciate hand made stuff) and I stopped caring as it doesn't matter how hard I work, they won't appreciate my efforts. I might buy my sister a charity gift instead - although she would go mental if I did.
I had a screaming fit at Tesco on Saturday, because of a failed delivery from Tesco direct and a screaming fit at Royal Mail on Tuesday. I have had six misdelivered letters, one doorstepped parcel, one correctly addressed recorded parcel delivered to another address because I wasn't in (!?!) and a recorded letter shoved straight through the door in the last two weeks alone.
I'm also missing my Novemeber credit card statement, and the last two months bank statements and a letter from the exam board (these are the things i know about) - which I only noticed when a got a late payment charge. Barclays were great though and refunded it when I asked, but even so - that's really annoying - and the second one I've had in six months because I haven't had the statements delivered. I am not a happy bunny.
I have one more folksy order to deal with then I'm going to close the shop for Christmas as it's just too much. I will pick it up again in the new year, but at the moment the flat is covered in paper, string and fimo and the hoover is full of beads and jump rings (I have decided that in addition to my idea of making washing machine fish, I am going to make small animals to go inside Dysons so you can watch them whizz round and round. Works with lego bricks)
Oswise I was lazy last night and got takeaway, ate less than a 1/4 of it and threw it away. That'll teach me. I was very very late home last night (11pm ish) after getting distracted by my plates in the microscope room. I could swear time moves faster in there - it's dark and warm
I have to tidy up before OH come home on Sunday. I have grand idea to make the flat all Christmassy befroe he gets back, but at the moment, I would just settle for finding the table under the craft carnage.
Have a good day all, cel x

Hi there!!!!
We are back, safe and sound, but boy its cold.
Collected books at the library, went into Wilko's to get the mirror hooks for the shelf unit and also look at paint....my goodness its expensive. OH suggested I buy half a dozen tester pots it wuld be chraper than buying a tin of paint at £9.95!!! I also need basecoat/wood primer which is another £6. I also got a small spirit level, the one we had has gone walkabout since we moved, this ne will fit in the tool box, so I will know where it is. We are going to try the shelves agains the wall to see the best place to put it. I also picked up a halogen heater from Wilko's £12.95 it has three heat settings, turns and will cut out if it falls over. Some one said they were going to be without heat, one of those would be fine, it has 3 heat settings and I believe is cheaper to run than the electric radiators.
We went on the market and picked up one of the dolls I mentioned, she sits and has a plac in her hand which says 'ask a teenager whilst they still know everything' Thought that was very good. Have discovered that one of her legs is not very well stuffed but I can soon remedy that with a quick unpick, some stuffing and a needle and thread!!!
The snow went off and its quite bright, need to wrap up well though. Have just has a coffee, about to start the Friday clean. I will need to rejig my cleaning routine for the next couple of weeks, especially as I do a through the house clean on New Years eve......a throw back to my Scottish MIL. Stsrt the new year clean and it will be clean all year!!!! Soemthing went wrong last year, when we moved in here I had to do a massive clean, the top of the cupboards in the kitchen were so caked with grease I had to scrape it odd with a paint scrapper and then wash everything fdown with sugar soap. The window frames and glass had not been cleaned for years.........and I spet hours on my knees cleaning dog pee stains off the bedroom carpets. No way could we afford to replace them, the move cost enough.
One day I will write the story of our move.........Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Good morning. Greetings from the (not so frozen) North. We have bright sunlight here much to the disgust of various children. The Y11 seem to be the most peeved by the lack of snow
and have been getting all sentimental over this being their last Christmas here(quite missing the point that most of my form will be going into 6th form that is.........right here.
We are now finishing at which means we can leave at 3:j
Ann was really happy when I got home last night(NOTHING to do with me!) Asn she had had a very long chat with a lovley OS'er and she really enjoyed it. SO thank you-you know who you are. :A:A:A
It was the happiest I have seen her in ages. It was nice to see her so animated and giggly
I want to thank everybody for the kind words and good wishes. I didn't ever really "get" the board and the daily in particular but I now see just how supportive and warm it is and I finally get just how important it is to Ann.
Also many many thanks for the toy tips. It was very kind and the ideas were fantastic. I shall be venturing out on Monday to buy various items from your list. Thanks for taking the time to help me out.
I have just put out the cakes and goodies ready for our form time which comes not at the end of the day but period threethen we have another lesson with whoever we should normally have(it's a good job there are no beer plants needing a booze up organising anytine round here!)
I have a lovely (honestly) Y11 form so am looking forward to that. I had my Y10's this morning. The sweeties:rolleyes:. As a year they are on report .Till next half term.
I hope you are all sorted and that everyone in the South is safe and not too disrupted by the snow.
Thank you for the tip about the Quorn roast. I will have another look.
I am going to try to get the laptop back today and then will also nip to costco to buy mince pies(Ann adores the mince pies from costco)
I also want to say thank you for putting up with me. You have been very kind. So as its almost party time here I shall sign off and get ready for the locust like group.(having left the huge tin of Quality Street at home:o)
Take care.
Mark xBlind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
And when no hope was left inside on that starry starry night.

We have snow and freezing temperatures...need to collect DGS2 from school later, take Kerry to the vet for her third shot and then home....good deal of travel will be on main roads so no great danger I hope.
Having left over roast pork for dinner to-day, with leeks and turnip, steamed potatoes and white sauce. Going to make some leek and potato soup in a minute as DD4 has her Christmas do to-night so will not want to eat dinner before she goes so soup will be nice and warming.
Hugs to everybody, keep warm and safe
