    Morning all

Works christmas lunch today :j free food...must be christmas!! My car is poorly - we have the new radiator it needs but are waiting on someone with the right tools to fit it but I was intending to get a taxi in this morning so I can have a tipple or three with lunch.

DD's cough is worse today but fortunately I've made her an appointment for the Doc's this morning so he can hopefully give her something for it as her throat is very sore with it.

I wrapped a load of pressies last night so another couple of hours over the weekend will see it finished - I made lists of what I had as I was wrapping so I can check to make sure I have anything.

Must remember to take my secret santa pressie with me to work - I wrapped that last night too. Hard to buy for someone who you don't know very well ; I had to buy for a lady at another office. I got a boots Sanctuary gift set and some thorntons continentals ...hopefully she'll like them.

Not sure whether anything OS will go on here today...left over soup for the kids for dinner is about the height of it!

    N9eav
have a great holiday if I dont 'see' you before you go.

Hope everyone has a good day

Good morning from a snowy & cold Lancashire :D

We weren't forecast snow but it fell last night whilst we were at DS3's concert at school. Felt very festive actually to be singing carols & watching snow fall through the window HStree12.gifThe concert was great and the beginners brass group got big applause & much whooping! DS3 was beaming.

Today is the last half a day for DS2 & DS3 so the fridge & I are ready for the onslaught of starving children every day :rotfl: I need to make some more mince pies as the others I made have magically [STRIKE]been eaten by me & DH[/STRIKE] disappeared :D

I shall also wrap the last few presents that I bought yesterday. I treated myself to some wool to make a scarf over the Christmas holidays. It was marked as new in the shop and is like string with furry bobbles every so often. Apparently you just knit on the string bit and the bobbles all line up IYSWIM. I can't wait to have a go with it knitting.gif but I have put it away for now as I HAVE to get DH's cross stitched picture of John sod*ing Wayne done. I only have his shoulders to do now so he won't be long.

Lunch today is spicy lentil soup & a HM naan and dinner is meatballs & spaghetti in a tomato sauce.

Have a good day all & HShugsdoganim_16923.gif to all who need one.

Edited to add: NPM Those shoes are amazing!! I love them you are going to feel fab in them.

    Morning all

Dark, cold and a layer of snow. Both DS1 and DS2 are trying to convince me that their respective schools will be closed! Will be looking at the websites shortly to check.

When the wind was blowing like mad last night our power went off twice but then came back on within a moment or 2.

Had lovely dinner last night liver, onion and bacon casserole with sausages, mash, brussels, green beans, carrots and leeks, mmm, lovely and warm and filling on a cold night. OH came home from work last night and said he'd felt cold all day as the wind was so cold, so he jumped into a hot bath with a nice glass of port (purely medicinal you understand!) whilst the dinner finished cooking!

Will be braving the weather to go to the bank and then going food shopping - think if I get going early then shops will be dead and I'll be able to get in done quickly and painlessly - apart from the paying bit at the end - that's always painful!!! Told DS1 that if his school is closed he can come and help me with the shopping - for some reason he's found something more interesting to do at home!!?? (OH hates any kind of shopping too).

Did get most of the washing, drying and ironing done yesterday and did get a reasonable clean achieved through the house so am semi-prepared for our visitors tomorrow night (if they are able to come coz of the weather). My hairdryer went bang yesterday so guess what I'll be asking Father Christmas to bring? How interesting - not!! Did get last couple of prezzies for other people sorted yesterday so it's just my 2 left. Need couple more biggish things and stocking fillers so shouldn't be too much trouble to organise.

Did manage to get to the scales yesterday and I'd lost another 1lb, so stayed the same last week, weighed on Monday of this week and had lost 1lb then weighed again yesterday (Thursday) and had lost another 1lb so total weight lose is now 2 stone 10lb - really chuffed with that but have been keeping really focused as I know Christmas is not going to be easy - don't think it's the food so much but I do like a drink or three! But have now found I can't drink any where near as much as I could as I don't have the body mass to absorb it.

Wrap up warm and take care everyone.

Have to go now, keep safe and well, hugs to those that need them.

Very white here - had a terrifying drive home last night - couldn't see anything and my car and others were sliding all over the place - never been so glad to get home.

Drivers didn't work last night, we made the decision not to send them out - the other 2 contractors sent their drivers out - 4 stuck & 2 turned straight around. I know we have lost money but much better feeling knowing everyone is safe - can't understand some people.

DD's school is shut so she is happy. She wants to go out in the snow - I dont :rotfl:she is old enough to go on her own.

Today I will be getting paperwork and ironing done the ironing will keep me warm.

    Keep safe and warm today.x

    morning all!

no snow here in Worcestershire - but dont want any as it makes it hazardous for DH on his milkround in the countryside.

Am off to the hospital later, my friend from work is taking me as they say I might need someone to take me home afterwards. I'm having a loop incision which is when they burn away abnormal cervical cells. Be glad when its over. We're doing a bit of shopping and having a coffee forst as O probably wont feel like it afterwards._pale_
OS - washing in machine and will be hung indoors later. Need to do a shopping list for Morrisons so we can get our £25 voucher.

Diva - Thanks for asking about Janet - she's still not too well, not eating much and very weak. I'm going to ring her tonight. I hope you and yours are ok x x x

    Churchie - :hello:

(((hugs))) to all those feeling poorly or worried about family members x

    Good morning everyone:santa2:

I've haven't popped in here much lately, no particular reason, just haven't got round to it.

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in my house. No tree up yet, that'll be this afternoon after the kids finish school and OH gets home. There's no snow here either.

Yesterday I made 60 florentines. These luxurious biscuits are something my mum always makes at Christmas so naturally I do too -mine are better! Mostly because I measure the ingredients and she doesn't. You should always measure when baking;)

I'm planning on making several batches of Delia's quick flaky pastry today for mince pies and sausage rolls. We always have sausage rolls at lunch on Christmas Eve.

For Christmas Eve supper I've got a joint of gammon which I think I'll cook in Coke. I've not done that before, in fact I can't recall buying Coke before but I suppose I must have done. Some friends were raving about it so I thought I'd swallow my pride and give it a go.

Christmas day will be goose, apple sauce and sage and onion stuffing plus Christmas pudding or meringues. Dd is looking forward to her first taste of meringue now she can eat eggs. I've already tried her on eggy bread which went down a storm and I'm going to try a mincemeat bread and butter pud this weekend. My kids have never had bread and butter pud before (becuase of the eggs) which is a shame as my mum used to make it all the time.

Supper tonight will be fried potatoes, peppers and chorizo plus fried eggs for those who want them.

I'm all ready for Christmas presentwise- all bought and wrapped. OH of course hasn't done any Christmas shopping. I'm going to look out our collection of Christmassy films later today, Scrooged being top of the pile-some great lines in that film.

Still to do -buy stamps and post cards(today), grocery shop on Monday and collect goose on Wednesday.:xmastree::snow_grin:xmassmile:rudolf:
  • Well, I'm OSing it by not going to work! We're snowed in and whilst I enjoyed my lie in (got up at 0530, decided it wasn't going to thaw by 0610 and went back to bed), DH is on exercise and freezing cold with no apparent road home that isn't closed AND his son is due into Gatwick this afternoon and he hasn't seen him for nearly six months so I desperately hope he gets in.

So I'm at a loss as to what to do!! Might have a look at flylady thread although I dug the house out last night in anticipation of DH's return.

MSD, tell me what your dentist said!!

N9EAV-Ear syringing? Will everything be louder after that?
