Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 18th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Hello everyone
I hope you remember me, although it's been a while since I posted
 Real life has been a total pain and got in the way. Does it count OK that I fell asleep in my armchair about three or so hours or so ago and just awakened?
Well, what can I report. My Christmas tree has been indoors for about a week, so my lounge smells delightfully of pine
We got it from B&Q and despite the label saying "5 ft" it's really 7 1/2 feet :T We had the Christingle service on Sunday, and I prepared 100 :eek::eek: so my house smelt absolutely beautiful at the weekend :rotfl::rotfl::T
I've nearly done all my present shopping, OK I realise that's very slack compared to most of you
But I have wrapped all that I've bought
And I do buy for a very large extended family
So sorry to read of all your various problems.
Special hugs to Mark and Anne. Hope Anne is soon recovered. I'd totally agree with the gift suggestions given in yesterday's thread. My DGS absolutely adore any form of lego. At 18 months, duplo would be ideal
And my 3 1/2 year old great niece would kill for Disney Princesses :rotfl:(or any variant;))
I took pity on DS3, who is very unwell, and I brought home a HUGE bag of dirty washing after running over to his flat tonight. ( he NEEDED Christmas Tree lights, and nobody near him was stocking them:rolleyes:) So my OS will consist largely of washing and ironing someone else's clothes:rotfl:
Goodnes it's very late, I must try to sleep. Hope everyone has a good day today, and hugs to anyone feeling sad, worried or just plain down :kisses3: CM xxx
Sorry this is not the Diva standard with individual messages. I'm a bit out of touch, and need to get to my bed

Morning CM & all to follow,
Was wondering where you've been. Thought you'd run off with Santa.I've been a bit lax in posting as well due to having DGS here. I took him back yesterday. It's still very hot & dry here. We're hoping for a wet Christmas and not a white one. Just like to be a bit different.
I've got all my presents bought and wrapped. I had planned on not doing much today but one thing led to another.
Taking Benny to the vet tomorrow morning. He has a ear infection I think so I'd say he'll get it washed out or whatever they do. He'll hate it no matter what. The minute he gets a whiff of the vets he starts to carry on like a pork chop. We were going to the club tonight for tea but DH rang before and said he won't be home until 7pm so won't bother now. I suppose I best think of something to cook now.
I hope all the birthday girls that had a birthday had a happy one. I agree with the leggo too. DGS loves it & plays happily for ages with the stuff.Poppa can make things so much better than me :T so I usually get a break.
Well that's lunch so back to the grindstone. Sounds good anyway.
Hope you all have a happy day & <hugs> who need them. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning OS friends.
Christmas QOTD: 'Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful. ~ Norman Vincent PealePaws
Julie - I hope you sleep better tonight
Churchmouse - it's so good to see you posting again!!
Hilstep - Hope they find out what is wrong with your dad sometime soon, it must be a worry for you all.
Rachel - Hope you had fun at your party and didn't get too cold!
Mioliere - So how did the potimarron taste?
Lamewolf - hope your paws feel better tomorrow
Redruby - I don't tip the bin men either since we went to wheelie bins.. it's a drag (literally) having to get them down a long flight of steps and onto the street every week.
Tru - hope you get it all sorted before Christmas
Bargain - birthday girl always gets brown sauce on her bacon sandwiches if she wants it..Hope you had a good day hon.
Anniestar/Mark - the more you describe Annies accident the more I go 'eurgggghhhh'. Give her a huge kiss and a hug from me and thank her so much for continuing to light a candle for Tris.
Tired mum - can I come on boxing day? I love turkey and can never get enough
Taplady - how is Janet doing?
Smokey - hope your daughter feels better soon hon
Noahs - those shoes are sooo sexy. They are the type you don't take off to go to bed in...
I had an email or two from Tris but he is very down still. I worry so much because I know healing takes longer if mentally you are not feeling strong.I am short of OS stuff even by my poor standards! We are having pizza tonight as my OH is working two extra nights this week and so needs to sleep and not cook when he gets home from his day job. With the huge expense of the new motability car in January he has to work every hour he can. Lunch will be left over pasta bake with some HM bread.
I still have cards to make (yes, yes I know...) and presents to be posted so really need to do that today once I have been to the dentist. Typical that yesterday I wasn't in any pain at all and so far not this morning either.
Anyway, I hope that the day is the very best it can be for everyone, and that anyone feeling poorly feels better soon. With love, light and festive felicitations for all.

Turns out that the boiler was never installed properly 5 years ago  The system was never flushed and had years of gloop in the pipes. It had eventually collected in the something or other inside the boiler, forcing the pump to work overtime and burn itself out. The pump that was installed 2 days ago wasn't affected, it just cut out when it got too hot. Charlie ended up turning the pump on and off every few seconds to force the blockage to move a bit each time. Eventually the blockage lined up with the overflow and he shot it out of the pipe into the front garden :rotfl: There was a bit of solder in it  The past few years, I've had the temp set to between 70-80 degrees and it was just warm enough - now it's running at 60 and I've had to turn it down cos it's too hot. Watch my gas bill go right down
Just checked the bank, mr tru has been paid so we can finally go shopping.
Miss tru's temp job (she finished on wednesday) is probably going to be permanent :j She'll find out in the new year. Hopefully yesterday was her last signing on day.
My orange slices have dried out on the radiatorI forget to make holes in them, so I'll sew a bit of cotton through them and tie the ribbon to that. Just as well really, if I threaded the ribbon straight though, they'd hang sideways instead of straight on.
Mogs loves Christmas

Morning all
Lazy start for me this morning, we have lots of snow, it looks beautiful out there, but won't be much fun scraping the car, I shall be glad when I have less carp to lug to work & then I can walk. I shall take a leisurely drive to work but if some idiot has abandodned their car blocking the bridge out of here I shall come home & stay home.
I'm babysitting tonight for a couple of hours, I just hope I can stay awake.
Love the chicken pic, Tru
Hugs to Tris & Diva
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
