  • Good morning all!

I was having a trawl around the forum yesterday, and rediscovered apple braid on Thriftlady's Adventures with Bread Dough thread. As I came to do the filling, I realised I couldn't find the sultanas. Yes I know you should assemble the ingrdiants before you start, Miss Ramsden my school Home Ec teacher would have me in dentention if she knew! Anyway, I ended up mixing the chopped apple with mincemeat and it was really good! By the way, it turns out there isn't a dried fruit bandit on the loose, H2B had put the sultanas in the cupboard where I keep my casseroles and the like rather than in any of the food cupboards.

I made plum jam with RTC plums and have some left to make some more chutney with today.

DD1 is visiting so I may follow sistercas' plan and make some scones.. I also need to finish a scarf I am crocheting and get wrapping.

NPM I love the shoes! I want to get mine but my dress isn't ready yet and I think I should probably wait until I have it.

Have a lovely day everyone and stay warm!

:D Well you beat Moneysaving Diva today , so Im expecting that you'll get a zillion thanks :D

I am unsure of the tone of your post but given this isn't the first time you've made comments I would like to respectfully ask that you take you sarcasm elsewhere. I don't know what bugs you so much about Diva or anyone else who posts in the wee small hours - no one is jockey-ing to be first - quite frankly I think most of us are more than happy to be asleep. If you think anyone posts on here to up their thanks count I would suggest you head over to the comps board as their thanks scores tend to be huge. Perhaps they'd appreciate your snide remarks just as much

Moving on........clutch has gone on the car  My dad thinks it might be expensive. Great, money we don't have - what a wonderful Christmas present for us :(
Got potential new clients coming this morning. H off to the dentist (he's not happy bunny about that). Snow still here (only light dusting really) but everything is frozen, clear skies and it's bitter cold and I can feel that sat here by the dining room window (even with the heating on) DS is desperate to go out and make a snowman bless him. No chance of that as there isn't enough of it.

Me and H are out tonight for a bite to eat :j so my parents are babysitting so not much OS going on here today :o

Triftlady - enjoy Scrooged - it's a fantastic film

Diva - good luck at the dentis today.

Have a good day all OS or not. Hugs to those that need them. Wrap up warm everyone :D

Morning All from snowy Croydon!!! :santa2:
Tru - glad your boiler has been sorted
taplady - good luck for later hun. I'm sure it'll be ok xx
nmlc - congrats on your weight loss :T

A bit disappointed - not enough snow has meant I've had to come into work booooooooo :p There's a total of 8 of us in out of the usual 65 that are on this floor so it's a little quiet to say the least. Early yet though still I suppose. DH insisted on driving me right up to the door of my work (a difficult task if you know Croydon!) due to my "condition" and the ice :D so no doubt we'll get a traffic violation ticket for being in a part of the road you're not allowed to be in, but you'd only know if you were a town planner...

Felt a bit queer this morning, woke up with an odd taste in my mouth and was a shade on the dizzy side. It went for a bit when I brushed my teeth though and was gone by the time I got into work. Can only assume this is the start of the sickness! Who'd have thought I'd be excited about feeling sick? :rotfl:

Didn't get anything out for dinner tonight as was in a bit of a rush this morning... Will ring Mum and ask her to get one on my turkey thighs out and cook a curry when I get home, I think. Something hot and spicy might help to clear out the last of this cold. Will make lots and freeze some for our lunches on Monday. Will prob make mine veggie though, just to be on the safe side.

Have a lovely day all, stay indoors wrapped up if you can, hugs in abundance xx

    Morning all,

Thick white snow here :Tand more due :D

Been up for ages, but the phone has not stopped ringing , got a phone call to say dd's school was shut, so i have left her in bed, just found out that the school is in fact open  so I had to phone and tell them she won't be in, it finishes at 1 anyway, and they will only watch a film so will keep her with me.

We need to get some food bits today for the weekend, ans will have to go out next week to get the fresh xmas bits.

Quick tidy through needed this morning, and I have to post a parcel, and pick up some dry cleaning, then this afternoon will be dedicated to film watching and sweet eating :D

Sistercas, thanks for asking about my parents, tbh my head is all over the place at the moment, we found out on Tues that dad has altzimers, this is after being told my at least two different Dr's that he did not have it, so its all come as a bit of a shock, and mum and I keep crying :o, I am sure we will learn to manage, but its all too raw at the moment.

Sorry to bring everything down :o,

    Have good days all xx

Haribo come back soon I miss you xxx

Totally with you there Bitsy, but you may expect some unpleasant PM's and snide remarks to your posts now, as this seems to be the way of supporting the daily. I have not idea how many thanks I have as I never look, someone commented on it once, and I just explained that some people use it as a marker to know where they have read to on th daily. I stopped the habit of thanking as a marker when doing it from work and they checked your "hits", and now just do it if someone refers to me or answers a question for me.;)

Will be doing a quick tidy up, and then re-filling the 'van if the snow keeps off, we only have a sprinking cover, but doing a little de-cluttering as we re-fill:T, which will please DH not end.
Had the Goldfinch, Blackbird and Starlings on the feeders and garden berries this morning.
Still no sign of my small Jewellery Box, gone back and dug out some older stuff (some from my 21st) behave you lot! Don't know whether I should put an insurance claim in yet, or even if I can, will talk to a fellow 'vanner who was in that business for advice. Tidied out two cupboard this morning, as I now have to go through the house doing the cupboards, and moving everything until I prove itis nowhere.
OS food wise, I am just using whatever I have in the freezer, found some braising steak and kidneys so they will be in the SC soon.
Taplady hope your procedure goes OK, MSD hope the dentist sorts yur toothache out.
NSD - Love the shoes, if only my feet would fit or handle such dainty ones. It is hard with DS, but as long as he is happy in his own way, it is all you can do. We have one teenager who caravans with us, and he plays with younger ones more than his own age, maybe that will happen in the future.

  • Hello Chums we I'm snowed in and won't be sticking my nose across the doorstep at any point today which is a nuisance as I was hoping to go to the local saavacentre in Hempstead for a few bits. All the schools are closed here so my grandchildren will be happy lads.
Last night we had a lovely meal at the Restaraunt in Gillingham and the manager not only played happy Birthday to my DD (even though its not until tomorrow) but gave her a tiny dragon ornament in a small cup with turquoise stones on it.really nice gesture I thought. It had started to snow when we were eating aand by the time we came out it was getting thicker .We left at 10.00p.m. to drop one girl in Chatham and my DD about half a mile from my house in all a total of three miles It took us an hour and a half as none of the roads had been gritted .Chatham town centre was like a skating rink and a lot of the hills were totally impassable. Having got to my house my DD had to then drop my car off and pick hers up to drive home two miles away and it took her almost another hour to get home. God knows where the gritters were, but nowhere to be seen at all.My sis-in-law has not long left to try to get a train home to Bromley and I told her if they are not running, to turn back and stay with me until they are. My car is completely snowed in and I can't get it up my drive at all so it will have to sit outside until we get a thaw. luckily I keep bread in the freezer for emergencies and always have longlife milk in the fridge at this time of the year. Still I can catch up with some reading or t.v. and I can always find lots to do.We have another 6-8 inches forecast later today so tomorrow is looking a bit dodgy as well.Just hoping that I don't get a power cut as then I will be a bit cold ,but have got my heating on at the moment full blast to keep the tempretures up indoors.Well I'm off to get the kettle on and fill up a flask just in case we get a loss of power.Hope everyone has a good day and keeps well wrapped up
    take care JackieO x

    Morning all!

Blooming freezing here and no sign of heating being mended this side of Christmas! Think I might have to invest in a couple more electric rads else we'll all be staying in our beds on the big day - it'll be like something from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory lol!

OS today will involve cleaning the kitchen, and sorting out the sitting room, oooh alliteration there! Best get a wiggle on as friend is arriving soon for coffee and he is a tidy freak! Also need to sand down bit of wood ready for new door sill, got ex coming round to plane it and generally fiddle around with it, then my best male pal and him are fitting it tomorrow apparently! At least we won't notice it being any colder when they take out the French windows!

Lunch today will involve soup methinks and sarnies, dinner will poss be roast beef if I can get ex to cook it! Him and ds say I'm pants at cooking it, amazing how I've managed without the pair of them for most of my life! Anyway I don't care much cos I don't eat it anyway!

Also need to clear out fridge, due to everyone having the lurgy recently we have a glut of stuff in there! And neat freak friend will have a turn when he opens it to put the milk away (started out as a joke that I never remembered to bring the milk in, now I just leave it for him to put away when he's coming round!), and ex will have a turn if there's anything lurking looking sad in there, damn cheffy attitude!

Girls all off today as still washed out, not missing too much at school though so doesn't really matter, only cupboard tidying and watching dvds! Will get them to potter and tidy their rooms, every little helps lol!

Right, best get on with it then, have a good day all! Will pop back later for a catch up, hugs where needed xx

ps off to cinema tonight so fingers crossed we don't get snowed in, was heavy last night!
