I agree Drodough, we are here to help each other, not get sidetracked into bickering with each other. I reported to Watchdog too, no news on that front, maybe not enough people are complaining to make it worthwhile, Trading Standards are less than worthless, doesnt leave us with much else. I sense less than enthusiasm for the support group idea, I am on the verge of giving up and just accepting the pittance I have been offered for my home from a developer just so I can get on with my life without all this stress.
Why not put the place up for auction with a reserve of what the developer has offered?0 -

Can you not go with a local agent and just wait a little longer into the Spring ?- most areas outside the south east are slow moving at the moment but I do believe that come March and April and better weather things will improve on the property selling front for all of us
I notified Watchdog too but I think they get inundated and it could just be a matter of sheer luck0 -
I'm sorry that you guys have to go through this but I still think you should think about beginning an email group - off this PUBLIC board - with what you are going to do next etc. Playing it out on a public forum just gives these lowlifes a step ahead of you every time.
I would seriously think about whom you invite to attend the group though - do it all through PMs to get email addresses. There are a couple of suspects in this thread if you look property imo and the fact someone reports a a suspect PM from someone on here tends to prove the point....
Privacy, but in numbers, with regard to your next actions is your strongest hope.
Good luck! I hope the b*stards get what's coming to them, sadly morons like that tend to move onto the next scam once they get caught out....0 -

Good idea in theory- but someone from the company could easily pretend they are being scammed to get into this group, couldn't they?
What I don't get is how they are getting away with this in the first place!! Is what they are doing actually legal????0 -
I am so stressed over this..... My story is a little different from most and I have noticed a change in the time etc of the calls that they make to me?? I did get daily calls normally 10.30am and now they are in the evening and by a totally different person now. I amwondering if the scam is coming to an end and people leaving it etc? And the way the calls aremade now I also wondered if these people may hold down 'regular' jobs and do this on the side?? I have PM 'd a couple of people with my story but I also feel I do not know who to trust and by telling more these people may work out who I am and cause other sorts of trouble???
After all if they are capable of this what else are they capable of?? They know where we live and they know the layout of our houses as they have been inside when doing the valuations???
Perhaps I'm paranoid but I agree that I don't know who to trust anymore even by PM((

They get away with it because people are prepared to send £1000 to a stranger from a company with no history. No estate agent takes up front fees. Companies like this only thrive because there seems to be an endless supply of gullible people with money in their pockets.
I am sorry if this sounds harsh, I do sympathise with those who have been conned but in the end we all have to take some responsibility for our actions, or scammers like this will just keep on going.0 -
'Give me a £1000 up-front and when your house sells I'll give you the £1000 back' - no one would be gullible enough to fall for that, surely?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Mmmmmm...... harsh indeed ILW!
No need to rub salt into open wounds we all feel crap about the situation???
Maybe they didn't approach you with their professionally prepared calls and legal documentation or maybe your personal circumstances were better than others or just maybe you were far too smart and outwitted them?
Whatever, unuseful comments like that don't help. No argument intended here just wondered what you would gain by stating the obvious???0 -

Sorry, I was not trying to rub salt into any wounds, just responding to a question asked.0
