Its the responsibility of the buyer to make sure the item is posted in correct manner. if its time critical then the buyer will have a genuine claim against the seller as they should have made sure its sent special especially at this time of year when it can be many days when post gets delivered due to sheer volume of mailAlthough it is very unfortunate for the buyer that they did not receive the tickets in time, surely they would not win a dispute with Paypal? If the tickets arrive, albeit late, they would still have arrived, so an Item Not Received case could not be opened. Unless it was very clearly written in the listing that the tickets would definitely arrive before the date of the event, then I don't see how a buyer would be able to make a genuine Significantly Not As Described claim. I realise that it is expected that the tickets would arrive in time, but unless it was specifically stated, then the tickets would still be as described.
I think that as a seller you should do what your conscience tells you to do. Issuing a refund would be a nice thing to do. It may also be the difference between you receiving a neutral and a negative feedback.0 -

I expected a call to issue a full refund, but would you all honestly issue a refund straight away? Surely I'm entitled to wait until the tickets do arrive, or are deemed as lost by the post office before issuing a refund? What if the tickets arrived but he didn't have to sign for them and gets to the gig and gets a refund? There's always this slim chance.
I know its a matter of conscience whether I issue a refund and in all likelihood I will. However, I want to wait until I either have the tickets back to me, or royal mail admit they have lost them.0 -

I know that. Who decides whether an item is time critical though? The point I was trying to make is that unless it was absolutely stated that the tickets would definitely arrive before the date then they would still be as described if they arrived afterwards.
e.g. Say I bought a DVD off ebay today as a present for my friend's birthday in 5 days time. The item was listed with first class postage. To me the item is "time critical" but if it arrived in 6 days, so too late for my friend's birthday, I would not be able to make a SNAD claim and say that it was the seller's responsibility to use a better postal service and get it to me in time.
I'm not saying that the OP shouldn't refund, as of course anyone would expect the tickets to arrive before the event date, but I just don't understand how a Paypal claim would work.0 -
i would only refund when i had the complete tickets back. if they are lost, then the rm confirmation of this should be enough for you to refund.
what you then tell rm to get any form of compensation is up to you.0 -

This really annoys me that you cannot come on here for simple advice and 'some' find it hard not to be abusive or sarcastic. i have actually been in the same situation before last year. i sold some tickets to a comedy show and sent them special delivery to arrive the next day, about a week before event. They never arrived to this date and havent been returned. I refunded buyer in full as it certainly wasnt their fault and i sent them supposedly a quick safe way and i got the money back from royal mail.
in no way is this the buyers fault so should be refunded in full regardless.0 -
Nope, absolutely no duplicate tickets issued. I bought them online anyway so the venue have no control over this, the company are saying since the tickets were sent out already no duplicates will be issued. I still have the ticket numbers etc but no joy. I can't even claim they were lost in the post (imagine that happening) as they were sent out royal mail first class recorded (who only idiots use to send tickets out with!).0

Could you not get the buyer to contact their local sorting office and ask if the envelope is there?
I have an extremely helpful postman who was able to get my exam results early for me.

If you're still worried about the buyer having you on and scamming you, then as the concert is tonight and they have allegedly not received the tickets, they are not going to receive the tickets today, unless they have a late postman, so why not just phone up the venue with the ticket numbers and get those tickets cancelled? Then you can be absolutely sure the buyer is not scamming you, which is what you seem to be a bit worried about.
I wouldn't wait for the buyer to send you back the tickets before refunding as it would be pointless and you would just be asking for a negative by doing that. Probably worth apologising to buyer lots too.0 -
i think you should brush up on royal mail policies before laying in to everyone trying to advise you for next time.
you should have researched the best method of getting the tickets to them, and sent them special. it was not up to the customer to request it as you said previously, it is your sellers responsibility to cover your own a$$ if nothing else.
refund the seller and learn from it. and btw, http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rmA good friend can tell you what is the matter with you in a minute ...:A0
