Concert tickets arriving late

Hi
I sold some tickets for a gig happening tonight, the buyer has just emailed to say they haven't arrived. Just wondering what to do now, in the auction I said I'd send the tickets by royal mail first class recorded the day I received the cash, which I did. Royal mail say first class recorded can take up to 5 working days, but that 90% of first class mail arrives the next day.
I phoned the box office but they wont issue duplicate tickets so now I'm wondering what to do. I'm split on this, the tickets haven't arrived yet but still could so technically I fulfilled my end of the deal. However, conscience comes into it and this guy is left without tickets for a gig. Any ideas what I should do?
Oh and keep all the tout stuff out of this thread, I had them on as a buy it now for the price I paid for them, and offered free p&p.
Thanks

Perhaps you should have sent them special delivery for guaranteed next day?Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670

That's what I would have done as the gig is on a set day, to ensure they arrived in time. Recorded Delivery is no faster than normal post and at Christmas time can take anything up to a week, regardless of them saying 99% arrive within 24 hours.0 -
Ok, ok. I'm a terrible person for not sending them guaranteed next day.
That being so, any suggestions for how to resolve the issue since I only sent them first class recorded?0 -
Tickets are not insured through recorded delivery so you won't be able to claim for the loss. If the buyer paid through paypal less than 45 days ago they can put a paypal claim and be refunded.
You haven't fullfilled your obligations as a seller. You are responsible to get the items to to them. If not you should refund0 -
Ah but the items could still get to him as royal mail haven't said they are lost yet, but classed them as delayed. If they do get to him then I fulfilled my obligations as a seller, albeit with the tickets arriving after the gig.0

Not much use for the buyer if they miss the gig is it?
Sorry, but I'm with the buyer on this one. You should refund them, even if it means you being out of pocket. Class it as a hard lesson learned.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -

See my edited post above.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -
From a buyer pov...If the tickets I'd paid for arrived after the gig...i'd be sending then back for a full refund. I think it's only fair that you refund the buyer if they don't arrive today and learn from the mistake.
