    Hi

Im very familiar with Rointe heaters, they are not the same as calortec, they are a standalone system like nothing on the market. They are very energy efficient, not like standard storage heaters (which do cost 3 times as much), they are proven to cost less to run then some gas central heating systems.

They are the only electric heater on the market to have BISREA approval and is being specified by many councils up and down the country.

    Hope this helps.

    I bet you are!!

    Over £600 for

Well if you are very familiar with them, how about a little bet.

I am stating unequivocally that 'Your' heaters produce no more heat than a £10 2kW fan heater or any other 2 kW heater.

Now prove me wrong - make the explanation as detailed and technical as you wish(I am a chartered electrical engineer) and there are plenty of others with a technical background.

Don't insult our intelligence with the "it is the way the distribute the heat argument". Heat output - Btu will do.

    Your brochure is a disgrace!
Hi there. I have two things to say about this. Firstly whilst from an purely theoretical electrical perspective your not wrong, on a scientific basis there is alot more to the laws of thermodynamics and I think this post is highly misleading. Also you clearly never tried the product and have dominated the thread with this misleading information. I have a 2 bedroom apartment. Overall it has 6 rooms if you include the hallway. The whole apartment is 12 x 24 meters. Previously we had two fan heaters 1 x 2000w and 1 x 1000w. These both running would not actually heat the building and made alot of noise. We had three of the rointe kyros heaters fitted and now have a lovely warm apartment for under half the elctic cost as the fan heaters which didn't even warm the place as well.

If your apartment is lovely and warm where before it wasn’t , then I would suggest the difference is how the heaters are controlled. Rointe website doesn’t tell ‘us engineers’ any more than the law of physics.

So the above points are not misleading - merely giving you an argument which you can’t disprove.

Try moving the knobs from Fan Only to Heat 2.

I have disproved it by trying the product myself. They are quite expensive though but deffinatly do the job.

So you have compared with a 2kw fan heater with thermostat set at the desired temperature ?
The fans heaters I have run very quiet. So wouldn’t they ‘do the job’ at fraction of the price.

Right at the start of this thread there is a post by @shaunmichelle7 who writes in favour of Rointe heates but has only ever made one single post to the forum.  Now right at the end we have two posts in quick succession by @Cristos in favour of Rointe heaters.  These are the only two post that @Cristos has ever made.  I have not read the bit in the middle of the thread; do these fly-by-night supporters crop up often?

The record was probably held by Clif, who clocked up about 150 posts before being banned.
All but one vigorously supported Outfox The Market, whose sister company makes heaters similar to Rointe.

So you pull out an eleven(11) year old post and have apparently personally discovered(and proved according to your second post) that 'there is a lot more to laws of thermodynamics' which have apparently changed in that 11 year period; Albert Einstein would have been thrilled to know about such a discovery. I wonder if he would have required a slight more robust proof than you have given?.

Some people believe what they want to believe rather than face facts, specially when there is a lot of money involved.
The company website ‘8 tips and tricks’ give us idea....
    - go for triple glazing windows..
    - more insulation will retain heat...
    - thicker curtains will retain heat....
    - do not open windows for more than 10 minutes...

We’ve recently got electric patio heaters - tried them indoors; brilliant with chrome reflectors making them directional but still only 2kw, indoors or outside !

Yes - it does seem that sometimes, those who've bought Rointe heaters feel the need to justify their purchase and I've no doubt that in the odd case they might work out to be reasonably effective as heaters. However they will have cost  at least10 times more and will produce the same amount of heat at the same energy cost as an equivalent sized oil filled rad from Argos or B&Q so its hard to see any justification in getting them.

However most others who have been conned into buying them tend to regret their purchase as they've nearly always paid silly money to have them installed and got significantly higher bills afterwards, especially those who've swapped out storage heaters in the hope of reducing their energy costs..

Unfortunately it's frequently older people who get stung as they are swayed by the promise of lower heating costs due to the claimed superior performance and efficiency of magic clay, fairy dust and golden oil etc.
