I've just got in from work. I'm off to make a large mug of tea and then I'm going to start on this room! The comp room. It also houses a treadmill and a billion cardboard boxes which have birthday/christmas gifts and ebay stuff. Oh, and a drawer full of bills & lots of junk. This is where anything sellable will end up when i start each room so this seems the obvious place to start!
On a very nice note my husband called me at work & I told him what I was going to do and when I just got home he'd cleaned and tidied the dining room as his contribution :T He's luverly (sometimes)!Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
can I borrow him quackers
I'm going to join this please and I'll go to the front of the queue too
I often have a day off and decide to give the house a good clean but the sheer size of the job is so depressing I never finish
so a room a day is worth a try
to get the job done in a week I've decided to do as follows
Day 1
hall, stairs, landing, bathroom, porch and downstairs loo
Day 2
My bedroom and en suite
Day 3
DD and DS can be in charge of their own rooms, as long as they get done once a week, they can also tidy their den and one day a week I will do windows etc in those 3 rooms
Day 4
Kitchen and utility room
Day 5
Dining room and study
dining room is usually kept tidy so will be easy to do the study on the same day
Day 6
Lounge
Day 7
day off after a quick tidy
this sounds feasible to me
the days with the least amount to do can be on the days I'm sleeping most of the day after my night shiftsI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. I'd like to join, please! No let's start by being honest, I need to join. I'm often full of good intentions, but like the morning mist they evaporate in the sun!!:o
I've got the tiniest house, but that doesn't make it any easier, in fact at times it's much worse. Just a couple of things out of place and it looks untidy, lots of bits and bobs around and it looks like I've been burgled:eek:
I need motivation, so any encouragement gratefully received!:D
Do I have to go to the front? Wouldn't it be better if the good ones were at the front, and the bad ones at the back, like when we were at school?:rotfl:You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Can I join in? I'm hopelessly undomesticated, to the point where I can't even see a job needs doing most of the time. But I have a couple of weeks before I start work and would love to have got the house nice and be able to keep on top of it by the time I start. Have copied down Moggins detailed cleaning lists for each room from the other thread, so at least I know what jobs I should be doing (dusting the skirting would never have occurred to me!)
My plan for this week is:
Monday: Kitchen, it's a state as per usual
Tuesday: Bathroom, sorted the airing cupboard today as couldn't find a clean sheet, so this shouldn't take too long
Wednesday: Lounge, lots to do, including a lot to Freecycle, charity shop or put in the loft, probably ought to try Ebay but I'm more concerned with getting rid of it quickly and easily than making money out of it!
Thursday: Our bedroom, same as the lounge...
Friday: Back room, currently used as dumping ground but I want to see if I can make it more usable
Hopefully I can either get OH motivated or convince him to stay out of my way...£2 Coin Savers Club £14 :j (joined 18/2/06)0 -

However I have planned main meals for the rest of the week and cooked some in advance.

I recently lost my job, and I sit here from dropping the kids off until I pick em up.
I do start a ickle part time job tomorrow, but I promise I will do a room.
Can I sit with Churchmouse on the back row? Will move forward as I get better at this tidying business xIs it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:
