I've discovered that the only way to deal with cat hair is to get on top of the cleaning and stay there. Boring but true, every soft bit of furniture that Henry sits on has some sort of throw on it and a spare in the airing cupboard so that they can immediate be replaced and thrown in the WM when liberaly covered in white cat hair.

(Just read that back and realised how boring I'm becoming note to self, get a life).

Oooo Joannasmum you gave me the goosebumps there! When you said "Henry" I thought of my Henry, he of my avatar who died last year and who I miss so much...there is still some of his hair around as he used to park himself just wherever he fancied. I got all confused but have now realised that it's your white cat, also called Henry, who is the culprit you are referring to. Currently I am doing battle with Teddy's hair - he's long-haired, and it's about 10 times worse than a shorthaired cat.

I've always been a bit reticent about putting things with a lot of cat hair on them through the machine - has it caused any damage (yeah, like you're going to keep doing it when it causes damage) - or do you take the worst of it off first? Do things come out hair free? Think I should go to El Cheapo Shoppe and get some throws as you suggest, at least I can whip them off when visitors come or when I am not sitting in front of my lappy.

BTW Joannasmum...you're not boring and you've got a v.worthwhile life being mum to Joanna and to Henry!!

Snowy why on earth would you want to include your airing cupboard when you do the bathroom if it's in your bedroom?

Do it when we get round to the bedrooms (or even save it for another day if it's a big airing cupboard :D )

I read it as the airing cupboard was in the bathroom. But i've had lots to drink.

And look at the time for goodness sake. Iwish people on here wouldn't talk so much.

OMG - I am feeling all poorly sick at the very thoguht of cleaning tomorrow :D

But I'll do it - honest miss I will.

personally, I'd count an airing cupboard as a room!!
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

Count me in please! I need something to motivate me. OH is away at the moment so I'd love the place to be really clean when he gets back. Only gives me a couple of days, but in comparison to now I think anything will be really clean :o

Can I pop back in and tell you what I have done when I've done it??

    I have a;
    Kitchen
    Lounge
    Bedroom
Spare bedroom (ha ha ha junk room I think sounds more apt)
    Bathroom
    Hallway

If I have the list here I can come back and cross them off when they are done. It's gonna be a busy few days!!

Thanks Moggins for starting this off and putting the pressure on.......

Of course you can pop back and boast of your achievements, too right!! :T Great idea about crossing them off as you do them, good way to stay focused.

Ok, my Sunday morning, pre-challenge head is on and it's occured to me that we should be having a FC prep day. This should only take a few minutes and will certainly have me ready to go tomorrow (mine will need to be done in the mornings because I flounder under heat).

~ go through cleaning cupboard, find any/all cleaning products that need using up and make sure I have enough to do the tasks I hope to accomplish.
    ~ check I have enough black bags/boxes for rubbish/clutter
~ check I have enough cloths
    ~ dig out a pinny (methinks I may need one :o )
~ stick a small notebook in pinny pocket and jot down any repairs/renewals as I go
~ dig through pamper basket ready for daily task end soak/destress
~ stick up notice on family noticeboard: "Any unclaimed clutter will be exterminated"
~ remember tip on photographing sentimental c-rap before throwing = recharge batteries for camera
~ check have spare hoover bags for upstairs hoover.

Think I've covered most things, if I've forgotten anything, do let me know :rotfl:

Oooh, I'm feeling really motivated!!! :D:D:D
