Is it really sad that I got very excited when I saw this thread?.....
I've been 'jumping in where I am' for about two years now, and very slowly making progress to clutter free (as opposed to the high speed to major CHAOS).
I so need this challenge as I have been overfacing myself every day and therefore not getting anything done.
Biggest thing for me was to see that you guys think you need the challenge!!! You all seem so totally on top of everything on the daily thread!
Thank you to everyone who's shared their tips on getting organised for this - I particularly like your about taking a note book for repairs etc Queenie as this allways sidetracks me!
I wish I could use TM's idea of a large basket for the things that need putting away. I do use it for the boys room/stuff as they then have to put away what's in the basket or lose it (charity etc). However like E-lass I end up with boxes and baskets of things to put away at the end - and it never gets done (I know, should be ashamed of expecting DS's to do what I don't do myself!!!) Anyone got any tips on this??? I currently have two large boxes of 'bits with no home' lurking in my bedroom......
Ok, I'm off to have a nice cuppa and get my head around this challenge - ooh, before I do, I think I read somewhere once that a slightly damp shammy cloth was good at removing pet hairs. I did also read that damp rubber gloves was supposed to work - but it didn't for me...... but I do use Futura gloves (allergic to normal ones) which seem a little different to the 'traditional' type. Might work with normal ones???
Really looking forward to reading how everyone does and getting extra motivation to do it (and feeling human when not so perfect!!!)
Brilliant thread :T :T :T :T

SnowyOwl wrote:Oooo Joannasmum you gave me the goosebumps there! When you said "Henry" I thought of my Henry, he of my avatar who died last year and who I miss so much...there is still some of his hair around as he used to park himself just wherever he fancied. I got all confused but have now realised that it's your white cat, also called Henry, who is the culprit you are referring to. Currently I am doing battle with Teddy's hair - he's long-haired, and it's about 10 times worse than a shorthaired cat.
I've always been a bit reticent about putting things with a lot of cat hair on them through the machine - has it caused any damage (yeah, like you're going to keep doing it when it causes damage) - or do you take the worst of it off first? Do things come out hair free? Think I should go to El Cheapo Shoppe and get some throws as you suggest, at least I can whip them off when visitors come or when I am not sitting in front of my lappy.
BTW Joannasmum...you're not boring and you've got a v.worthwhile life being mum to Joanna and to Henry!!
Sorry Snowy
We used to have a cat called Jasper who looked alot like you Henry and somebody near my MIL's has called there son Jasper it really confuses me when I here them shouting his name.
In answer to your questions its not done any damage to the machine yet, but I've discovered that its best not to put it on a fast spin at the end as the hair thats collected on the door seem to get spun back into the throws. Also fleece is not the best thing as it seem hold onto the hair.
Thanks for the kind words after the week I've had its nice to know that somebody thinks I'm doing ok even if they've never met me in RLSorting my life out one day at a time0 -

Morning, can I join in?
The weather has been so good past few weeks that we've all been in garden and house is neglected. Don't know how, as no-one's been in. It's that pesky untidy fairy again. :rotfl:  :rotfl:
DS to tidy playroom (lego mainly) and his room so that I can sweep and hoover. :j
DD to yidy her room of crafty stuff, and clear windowsill of treasures, so that windows can be cleaned. :j
DH and I to put camping stuff away, hoover stairs. :j
I'm working Wed and Thur this week. Need to go to town to collect curtains on Tue, so Monday, tidy spare room, clean bathrooms, sort paperwork/finances. :j
I have a pretty full life, 2 children, hubby, P/T job, 3 hens, 4 baby chicks, goldfish, big garden, fundraiser for several charities, school governor, sing in choir, friends to see, racing for life, etc. Cleaning comes down my priorities. I love the effect of clean/tidy house, but it all disappears far too quickly. Any tips on how to keep motivated, and keep on top of it all?

Penny if you don't have time to do large blocks of cleaning then try the 27 fling boogie first - just grab a bag and run around the house finding 27 things that can be thrown away.
Then work in 15 minute increments - you will be amazed how little time some jobs really take when you actually do them, I used to put off doing the hoovering then I timed myself and it actually takes me only 10 minutes to hoover the whole downstairs. It takes me 5 minutes to unload the dishwasher and 10 minutes to remove all the stuff from the kitchen work top and clean and bleach it (I have loads on my worktops).
Set your kitchen timer, work against the clock and see what you can fit in.
Motivation is my job for the next week okay?Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Fabulous idea - count me in!
I need something positive to focus on and keeping a tidy flat might as well be it
I've just looked at the flylady website: http://www.flylady.net/ and I'm going to be brave and sign up. I'm one of the great procrastinators of this world and like (I think) TM I can walk into one room, put something down, walk into another room....lots of started and not finished jobs! Also, I seem to take forever to complete things. Yesterday I did three loads of washing and ironing from 1100 till 1500 and now my arms really ache from the ironingI wish I could be as proactive as the rest of you.....but then maybe if I didn't spend as long on here as I did I'd be quicker :rotfl:
I'm going to be brave and sign up for flylady now, will let you know what emails I receive.
