Been in the bathroom & used the mould remover spray - it says you have to leave it for 3 hours! That's put paid to my bathroom cleaning for a bit, so I have been working on my household file, emptying & putting away contents of d/w. 5 minute room rescue-type thing for living room will come after I have had a cup of coffee, then will buzz the vacuum round. After lunch I can get back into the bathroom & finish off.0

Well, my bathroom is the 'room' for today. But, I've given myself permission to take a break, lick my wounds and endeavour to re-motivate myself
Took everything off the shelves, plus bathroom cabinet - not much to throw/give away because I've streamlined things over the past 7mths anyway. So far, so good.
Took up all the bathroom mats, straight to the washing machine; now hanging. Noticed the flooring is a tad worn. Notebook entry: Need new flooring for bathroom.
Cleaning radiator, paints flaked off exposing rust.
Venetian Blinds - didn't have my exfoliating gloves, so attacked with stardrops and micro cloth ... 4, yes four (!!!) of the slats came away in my hands and now I have a big gaping hole, 4 slats big. Notebook entry: Ditch blind, replace with ?
Feeling a lot discouraged now. (This is the house the boys Dad owned in his previous life with his x. It's awful! We'd planned to replace it, but it's never happened. Beam me up Scottie, cos I hate this place with a passion! No amount of cleaning or decluttering is ever going to make it 'home'. Sorry for venting, but the amount of work I'm *not* able to do is just proving too overwhelming. Going back to bed - Queenie bowing out of challenge for rest of day.)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Awww Queenie - sounds like you've had a morning of it.
Are the windows overlooked - could you not just take the blinds down and see how you get on with out them? I've got a roller blind in the bathroom, it was a cheapie ikea one...it's a plain colour but I've used a stamp and some emulsion paint to customize it to my tastes.....(the emulsion hasn't come off yet, ever after a couple of good scrubs). As for the floor - once the mats are back down it won't look so bad - honest!!
The main reason we moved from my old house was because it was one I'd lived in with ex and new DH didn't want to stay there - I can sympathise with you on that, when a house doesn't feel like home then nothing you can do will make it feel right.
Well I'm still going strong, on the last hurdle now - the computer desk  .....I've just got rid of a cupboard that was taking up valuable space, holding all our dvds and cd's.....by being ruthless on the book shelves, I've found a spare shelf to put them all on.......pine cupboard anyone?????
The rug's having a blow through on the top of the swing frame and all the sofa cushions are on the trampoline...neighbours must think I'm mad!

Wow, just finished bathroom!!:j
Steam-cleaned all walls (fully tiled), loo, basin and bath.
Cleaned out bathroom cupboards and thrownaway all out of date things. There was some cold medicine with a use-by date ofApril 2004:eek:
Removed all junk from window-sill to clean it and found most would fit into now tidied and emptied cupboards.:D The rest could be binned. I now have an almost clear windowsill:T
Have scrubbed blind, really wants replacing, but looks a lot better.
Mats lifted and washed, and almost dry. Just been to check and they are now dry and back down on freshlywashed floor.
Didn't need to clean windows, did that last week.
Mirror washed and polished.
I can't believe how good it looks! So fresh and bright.:D
Do I get a gold star now moggins?;)
Sorry Queenie that you've had such a rotten morning. Hope you're feeling a bit better now.You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Oh Queenie, how awful. Hope you feel better after a break.
I have cleaned off the mould remover, some of the mould, and rather too much in the way of bathroom ceiling.....
I'm not sure what looks worse, mould or patches of ceiling with no artex & paint on.....
..... probably the beige ceiling is better than black mould.....
Anyway, have cleaned the floor, bath & everything else I managed to cover with flakes of paint etc. At least the bathroom got cleaned!
Got the beds to do now, they have been stripped & airing.
But a cup of coffee is required first!0 -
Shameful me I've bowed out for today:o cos I HATE being organised with a passion, just CAN'T get off this site:eek:

(((Hugs))) Queenie. I love my house and now it will be beautiful once weve finsished decorating it but have only done 3 rooms so far and am saving up money to do our bedroom and ensuite. All the rooms that havnt been done never look nice even when Ive scrubbed them so I know what its like to lose motivation. Im doing this challenge so I know they are clean even if they dont look it.
Well ive done the bathroom and ensuite - they didnt need much decluttering as I do keep on top of these rooms. Towells and bathmats are in the wm. Need to contact velux as both bathrooms have velux windows which look like they have never been cleaned (house is 18 years old) and they are hard to open and even harder to shut. Also the double glazed glass has 'broken down' - now Ive known this since we moved in nearly 2 years ago & kept thinking will do that so - well now coz of this challenge am gonna do it now!
OH will hoover bathrooms in a min & I will get down on my hands and news and give the floors a really good clean with a microfibre cloth then thats it for today.
Didnt start on the airing cupboard - will include that when do the hallway.
Tomorrow am aiming for the playroom and shower room.
Keep up the good work0
