If he does return it tracked, make sure you open it in front of the postman, preferably before even signing for it in case he sends you a bag of rice or something.

    well that wont be happening
the idea is you sign for the item and get it
not the postie stands there while you rummage in the package and decide if yuo want any of it
  • Anyone know ebays contact number I need to ring for advice, thanks

People are suggesting that you hold off for the deadline for the guy claiming back from Ebay/Paypal but you are not going to get away with that. Whatever people are saying, this guy is a foreigner and a scammer.

Sorry my mistake I must have stumbled in to the wrong forum I mistook this for Money Saving Expert not BNP chat.

What relevance is this guys nationality?, are you just one of those idiots that believe 'Johnny foreigners' are crooks by default.

    Hi everyone,

Well I have decided to tell him to return the item cause at the end if it goes to dispute Paypal will just say the same. I'd rather get it back quicker and get this sorted before Christmas.

Anyway I posted him the following and kept it nice and polite,

    "Hi,

Thanks for your email, I was only trying to help, and thought that you would be pleased to hear that the Apple Store would replace the one you have, if found faulty, there and then in the shop. So I am really surprised that your not interested in getting a Brand New iPhone replacement by just visiting your local Apple Store.

Anyway for me to issue a refund you need to return all items as they were originally received from myself including all accessories/booklets/Boxes/Item Packaging etc, Basically everything that I sent in the package.

    Then post them to....

Once I received all the items back and have checked and verified that they have been returned in the condition that they were sent. I will issue a refund.

    Thanks
    "

    Haven't heard from him yet.

Can anyone advise the correct procedure for getting the 'Final Value Fee' back and also PayPal fees?

Do I have to initiate a return or something via the ebay site?

You will still have to pay that.

What! eBay don't refund Final Value fees under a refund?

So I will be out of pocket of £35 and my original postage of £7 total £42. That can't be right.

Just as an FYI, if you didnt make a note of the IMEI before you sent the phone open itunes, go to itunes, preferences, devices and select your phone. Double click and it will tell you its IMEI.
