Problem is you are forgetting this was an ebay/paypal purchase so seller has to refund if paypal accept that buyer believes phone to be faulty.
What would be the proof that the phone was genuinely faulty right from the time it was taken out of the box.???
I know, these days paypal's policy has been changed and i totally agree with your comment. But, i just want to convey the message to the OP that, paypal sucks the blood of sellers these days and thats why such scammers are at large. So, do not entertain him. If he does, then i am sure, we all be commenting on his another thread soon.0 -
Hi, I emailed him this today.
"Hi,
As the phone is just under 6 months old, it is still under Manufacturer Warranty. So if the O2 shop have said it is faulty to you then it is replaceable under the Warranty by O2 or at a Apple store.
As it is still under warranty if you take it to a Apple Store they should replace the phone with a Brand New one, there and then, after checking the fault and warranty status from the serial number.
You have a local Apple Store in Leicester at HighCross (not far from the O2 shop). You need to book an appointment from the link below by selecting your local store from the drop down.

Advise the ‘Genuis” what the fault is and they should be able to give you a Brand New phone once they have checked it.
If they require any additional details about the original order I can email them to you. Such as Order No, Exact Purchase date etc etc although they tend to just check the warranty status and that the software has not been modified in any way.
Here is the details for the HighCross store

Thanks."

lol any response yet? I bet he'll still try asking for a refund!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
He's just emailed me this,
"i already went in o2 shop anyway its not my job to ask them about the iphone also i don't have a time to keep going o2 shop so please if you can give me the refund or i will claim with ebay services"
He's not interested, What do people reckon should be my next step?0 -

Do you live far from him? Offer to go and pick it up from his house and take it to the o2 shop on his behalf and sort out a new one.
He cleary has done something to it, i mean lets face it, anyone buying a phone off ebay and then had problems with it, would breath a sign of relief to know its under warranty and can pop into a phone shop near by and get them to sort out a new one.
You will probably have to offer a refund upon receiving the item back, i would clearly tell him that no refund can be made until you have the item returned.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
can you say you have informed apple and given them the relevant info that he is now the new owner of the phone and that there is a problem, and they need him to take the phone in for tests .spanky xx

Unfortunately its gonna cost me £20 round trip just in fuel, So that is not a option and I doubt he would agree anyway:Dcontinualdiamond wrote: »He cleary has done something to it, i mean lets face it, anyone buying a phone off ebay and then had problems with it, would breath a sign of relief to know its under warranty and can pop into a phone shop near by and get them to sort out a new one.
Exactly, if the shoe was on the other foot and a seller told me I could get a Brand New phone from Apple as O2 are confirming mine to be faulty, I would be down there like a shot.spankymonkey wrote: »can you say you have informed apple and given them the relevant info that he is now the new owner of the phone and that there is a problem, and they need him to take the phone in for tests .
Don't think he will fall for that as he not interested at all.0 -
I think you should say that as there is an Apple store near him (if I have read this correctly) that all he needs to do is book an appointment, at no cost to himself, at the Genius Bar. They will be able to sort it for him.
Should there be any cost involved then if he send you the information you will be happy to discuss it.
If he has "bricked the phone" then going to the Genius bar will be of no use to him at all. If it is faulty then the nice Apple people will be able to help him.
Remind him it is under warranty and there will not be an issue with Apple so the easiest solution is to take it to them. Tell him the are much more helpful than o2
From what you have posted here - this is not what he wants. He has burgered your phone and wants his money back.We all evolve - get on with it0 -

Yep, he's guilty. Unfortunately you are not going to get much further with him. When he does tell him what was said above and wait for the return, and then check it thoroughly.
Don't pay for him to return it and don't suggest how he does it.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
