Jailbreaking can fix some of the bugs in the software actually and its no more vulnerable than a standard phone, there is rumour of a virus attacking jailbroken phones but to be honest its exceptionally rare and wont affect you if you have changed the user password into the phone from the one Apple sets as standard.
There is a lot of rumour and falsities about jailbreaking mainly because Apple would like to discourage it.
Some interesting info here:

Apples warranty is so comprehensive, not sure why the buyer has contacted you?
If he takes it to an actual Apple retailer, they tend to give it a test then and there and replace up front.
Jailbroken phones can be reversed.
Also o2 have now offered to unlock their o2 phones for free.0 -
Tell him you will only issue a refund once a) the item has been received, b) you'e checked the IMEI and serial numbers, and c) checked for any damage with your records and by taking it to the Apple Store. Let him know it may take a few days to get a report, so he will have to wait. I am guessing it hasn't turned up yet.
The language used by the the buyer does have a broken english vibe to it. Most people would know to say sent rather than send. As far as this being a BNP forum, I beleive where a previous poster was coming from is that most mobile phone fraud on ebay is committed by 'Foreign' Individuals. Unfortunately Tar and brushes do go together, a bit like plastic chairs and football violence abroad.
I get teh feel that the buyer wants the refund regardless of you getting the item. Also they raised a paypal claim after it was posted back going by the timing and they expect the refund there and then.
This will either turn out to be a huge scam that doesn't win or the OP will be screwed over by Paypal.New PV club member. 3.99kW system. Solar Edge with 14 x 285W JA Solar panels. 55° West from south and 35° pitch.0 -
You know there's always the chance that there is actually something wrong with the phone and the buyer is genuine. Just a thought we only hear one side of every story here from one perspective0
