So after all that maybe the phone really does have poor reception, and you just live in a strong signal area?
Bet the buyer is relieved to have got his money back, he's probably thinking he was lucky he wasn't scammed after all.
Poor Network coverage is not my problem, if that was the case, that's something he has to take up with the Network provider.
He received a fully working phone, so how was I scamming him again?0 -

More likely he's thinking that he bought an expensive phone, found it did not work in his area (not sellers fault) and managed to get rid of it back to the seller for less than the cost of e-baying it and possibly losing money to boot.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
I wonder if it is still part of a scam, he wants the refund asap.
I wonder if he used a dodgy source to fund the pay pal payment and then getting the refund to go on somewhere else...
Quite a possibility, at least you got the phone back relatively unharmed.0 -

I didn't say you were scamming him. I said he was probably worried you were. It's a lot of money for either side.
I also didn't say he had poor coverage, I said you may have had very good coverage, masking a possible poor reception problem with the phone.
(We're in a marginal area with orange, all our phones are on the same network, some work, some don't, it depends on the phone)
Only way to know for sure is sell it again, and see what happens.0 -
Can you please now name and shame the idiot buyer so we can block him from our auctions please!!! Ta!0

OP - please name and shame! Don't want this one bidding on any of my items!!0

We don't name and shame on here as it leads to many problems as the other party reveals their id which is never a good idea.
I would urge all MSE users to keep their ebay IDs away from this board, there are some very odd people about..I know because I met one once.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The buyer either changed their mind or were clueless. If it was the latter another poor seller might be going through the same as OP soon.
I am all for buyer's rights but this takes the michael. There is so way a highstreet would have given a refund.
I am sure that I wouldn't mind the use of an iphone for a few weeks at the cost of £14 (or £7 if original P&P refunded). I am sure the OP is glad to get the phone back in one piece but they have still lost out.
I wonder if the OP will get an invoice for the cost of the case soon.0 -

Remember we only hear one side of the story. If we had a post on here from the buyer about a seller who wouldn't refund a faulty iphone everyone would be saying poor buyer and what a horrible seller. All we have is one point of view0
