...to you both. I have stripped it down, put it near a fan heater on low and packed some of those little bags in the back of it. Fingers crossed!
Dont think I could follow the soak it in de ionised water/ thinners advice on an older thread though......Seeker of Peace0 -
The guys I work with drop their phones into burns frequently ... as you have done, remove the SIM and battery, and remove the outer cover if it's that kind of phone. Lay them all out on a towel, and leave in the airing cupboard for a few days. Then see what happens! We had one phone took about a week before it worked properly again.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

ps. you may want to jump towards the last few pages as it is quite an old thread and some of the older advice is not great as highlighted below!0 -
the other thread talks about putting a hair dryer to it. I'm no expert in phone repair but I would be more inclined in drying it with a cloth as much as poss, including taking battery out and drying the back. And then leaving it in an airing cupboard/boiler room for a few days without touching it. Hairdrying it may give it too much heat.
I remember as a kid going through a lot of electronic watches due to water damage, some worked again after the above techique.
I would lower your expectations now in fixing it but definitely give it a go.0 -
Never, ever, ever use a hairdryer or any other source of heat.
Since the battery is internal I'd get the case open and battery out of there if possible (though isn't the original iphone battery soldered in - meaning you might do more damage desoldering it than good). I'd definitely get the case open anyway to allow it to dry quicker.
Leave it somewhere for about a week to make sure it's fully dry before even thinking about turning it on. (as greyster said above:))

My son (bless him) recently DRENCHED a phone.
Visits to Carphone Warehouse (where we thought we'd bought it) revealed that ...
Batteries (mob phone batteries that is) have an indicator on them - a 'white' patch. If it turns pink it shows that the phone has been thoroughly wetted (it's like an indicator). His patch was white so CW suggested take it to phones for u (where we had actually bought it, after scouring for receipts) ...
anyway, after two weeks left lying around when I charged it and took it in it worked! I'd charged it to prove it didn't work so if your indicator is white, remove the battery and leave it in an airy place and see what happens - you could even try this if it's pink.
It's worth a try - we are all on PAYG so the phones cost.
(With kids using them I prefer PAYG because you can't rack up charges if someone unscrupulous gets hold of your phone - kids are 14 and 12 - so there you go!)

Surely the residue left from the washing machine chemicals should not be left on the internal parts? Would it be better to wash the phone in clean water before letting it dry? Just wondering. Leaving it in the ashing machine is a bit different to a puddle or down the bog.matched betting: £879.63

That may help
Basically no hairdrying, put under a lamp....
Although saying that the iphone is a sealed unit, just like the ipod shuffle in that video...and that died....and also i saw another video a while ago (which i cant find) of an iphone stress test where they dropped it in the toilet and it pretty much broke after that.....
when you have a phone thats worth that much you should take care of it, i guess if it doesnt fix itself its (an expensive) lesson learned: always check the pockets before washing!
If its an original iPhone then i really do feel for you...those things costed a bomb!0
