I put a phone through the washer accidentally a few years ago. Although the phone was useless afterwards I was amazed to find that the sim card still worked.
I get phone insurance with my bank account so managed to get a new phone but I think you can get refurbished ones off the likes of Orange and Vodafone which might be considerably cheaper than a new one.0 -

Oh No. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I'm afraid dropping mobiles in water is a pretty good killer.
My wife dropped hers down the toilet and knackered it. Apparently though, there is a chance it can be fixed, but you need to do it asap. Also, trying to turn it on afterwards is a bad idea if its not completely dry. Have a search on google.
I did try to claim off the house insurance (accidental damage) but you had to send the phone to them to prove it, and they offered a really crappy price. In the end, I sold it as faulty on ebay for a few quid.
Also, you cant just send it back under warranty either. The phone companys are wise to that. Theres some sort of water reactive coloured sticker on the battery and inside the phone itself so they can tell if its been water damaged.0 -
i dried it out yesterday, but there is still a problem, i'm not really bothered about the phone but my pictures on it. is there anyway at all i can retrieve the pics?0

Does it have a removable memory card inside? Or did you save pics to phone memory rather than card?0

sit it on a windowsill in the sun for a few days - my friends took almost a week to dry out but has been fine since.0

I've done this a couple of times and on both occassions I've removed the battery and sim card and put the phone on a radiator for a day or so. Put it all back together and hey presto they work again, no problem.0

Do as skinflint says.
Make sure the radiator is on or its near the hot water tankNot Again0 -
Put it in the airing cupboard for a couple of days with the battery out and the cover off (or better still the case off if it has a removeable one - the circuit board inside will need to dry out completely.
If it doesn't power up, you won't be able to access the internal memeory via USB.
Check that it doesn't ACTUALLY have a micro-sd card inside. You will need an adapter to read that in an SD card reader.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0
