    Thanks guys.

I'm really upset now. I didn't shout at my partner - but I do feel like it!

Its not insured. I wonder if my contents insurance might cover it? I wouldn't be able to afford to pay any excess fee, though.

Do you think the sim card will work in a new 'phone? If not would o2 replace it and might there be a charge for this?

Thanks very much for your help.

I had the exact same thing, (and same stoopid husband by the sounds of it :))

I took the battery out, took it all apart and put the pieces in the airing cupboard. After about 3 days it switched on with a bit of a misty screen which cleared totally after a week. My phone was on an 18 month contract and only about 2 months in !! Its lasted over a year now with no problems.

The comment about leaving it wet so the insurance company can verify its damage isnt really necessary as there is an indicator on the inside of the phone which turns red when its come into contact with water.

I used to work for Ericssons if you send it for repair they will more than likely throw it, sadly even manufacturers warrenty is normally void, try claiming from accidental damage on contents insurance.
    Hello,

I suppose the most obvious response to this question would be take it to be repaired but....

My Motorola V3 went down the toilet, it was in my back pocket, only for a few seconds and it's flamin' broke! It turns on and makes a few noises sometimes and the button backlights come on but the screen itself doesn't!

Any advice please??? Yes, I have taken it out and it is dry or appears to be.

    TA!
  • Hi I have a nokia 6300  but dropped it in the loo. After drying it out I got the phone to work again but i am having problems with the battery life. Previously it lasted 2 or 3 days now its about 6 hours. I dont have any insurance on it and wondered if anyone knew if I went to O2 shop would they replace it for free?

    Many thanks
  • No, they wouldn't replace it for free. Even if it's under warranty that would be pretty dishonest!

Just buy a new battery from eBay and don't take your phone into the toilet again!!

i'd start looking for another phone as water and electronic gadgets dont usually mix. water damaged phones most times wont last long due to corrosion on the phones mainboard and a new battery may not even help
  • Oh dear - thought someone might say that, was hoping not to have to go down the road of a new phone as I have only had it a few months. Ah well, thats what being a sleep deprived mother of two does for you!

  • Hi, my sons phone ended up with him in a stream. Took everything out and left it in airing cupboard for day or so. Phone is all working except no sound - which is pretty important for a phone!! Music showing that it is playing on screen but no sound. Any clues? Could it still be drying out - it was damaged on Wed....
