Okay, I'm hoping for some real help here. I've just managed to put my mobile in the washing machine (trouser pocket), and only realised when my daughter said something in the washing machine was banging and flashing blue! Now it's drying out, but I'm assuming it's a gonna. It is/was a Nokia 6300 on an Orange contract that has about 10 months to go.

What's the best way to replace it?

To be honest, I would hope it would work again when it has dried out.

There's probably a thread on here about it, but the general idea is to take the battery out and put it in a warm dry place (airing cupboard) and it should dry out completely after a day or two.

Only problem could be corrosion on the contacts so don't do this too often or leave it in a damp location, but I would be optimistic if you leave it for a day or two to dry properly.

Generally, you wont be able to get a warranty repair as they don't do water damage, but you might get it covered on either household or mobile specific insurance, depending on the terms.

Otherwise, you'll probably end up buying a new one.

Try a hair drier, but NOT on a very hot setting. Have known that to work but chances are not very good:confused:

I've washed my DD's phone too - and if you disassemble it as much as you can, leave it on kitchen paper in a warm place for a few days, it *should* be ok.
I've heard other people say that if you put the parts in a jar of rice, it helps draw out the moisture, but I haven't done this, so I don't know whether it works.

My SE W890i got water damaged in a strorm, and I am gutted. Does anyone know if it can be rescued. When I plug it into the charger, a red light on the side lights up, but little else does. Also, a friend of mine gave me an old N95 with a useless battery. The N95 is a few years old, would it be worth buying a new battery or is the N95 as frustrating as some say. Your help and input is greatly appreciated as always.

You won't regret if you start using N95 now, why would you bother to change the old battery if the battery is genuine? Unless the old battery can't last long, then you should get 1.

sounds like the erom has had it.

try updating it with SEUS, and if it doesnt work i dont think there is much you can do with it apart from let it dry out without the battery inserted or plugged into the charger for a few days

Let your phone dry out well, before even attempting to turn it on as the mistake people make when there is water damage is to try an turn it on this only fries the main board normally rendering the phone useless and not worth repair, you want to dry it out first then attempt to turn it on, also heard something about using ionised water to do something to the phone

Yep take the battery, SD card, sim out of the phone and allow it to air dry fully or you run the risk of shorting the main board. This may be too later as you have already tried to charge the phone. Gone to the mobile heaven in teh sky I think. :A
