I was accepted and completed the paperwork. I was then asked to send my salary slips for 3 months or bank statements. Sent salary slips. However they wrote saying they note my salary is going into my bank account and now reqquire the bank statements. In the end it was too much hassle for !100.00
    pounds.

I did ring them yesterday and spoke to a lady in the contact centre about this. She thought the reply I received was unacceptable and would get the applications dept to respond via telephone. Seems so much hassle though but on reflection its free money and will keep my cats in clover for the next 2 months.

I've now past a month since my salary was paid in and have just phoned my branch to complain. First I was asked if I'd closed my old account (I said I didn't want to and that wasn't required but I had transfered my salary and DDs). Then she said it took 6 weeks from transfer - I read out the T&C that says its 28 days! She then said she'd phone back in 15 minutes - she hasn't.
    They seem a bit rubbish...
  • I have had nothing but trouble with this one, I opened the first and they sent a letter saying they couldn't take online statements from cahoot even tho they only do online, then cos I went on hols and took longer than 14 days to reply they canceled application.

I then opened again, and as I only want to mandate my salary in they are now saying I don't get the £100, this is total BS as in their terms and conditions it says you do both or either, but they don't care bout this and guess I ain't gonna take em to court for it,

    Anyone else had problems?

I opened the account no problem but have only transferred my salary in, first payment was credited last Friday.

No sign of the bonus yet, but they did say 28 days.

Hope its not going to be a problem not having any direct debits - T&C def said and/or, so salary should be enough. If my patience can stand it I will wait the 28 days before raising my head above the parapet and asking where the bonus is!
  • the problem is this stupid switching service, cos when you apply you can only say you want account transfered, if you don't say that then it apparantly doesn't count...

    No £100 for me either.
My account was opened several weeks ago, but had to chase up for a paying-in book, a cheque book and then I had to ask when would they be transferring the DDs - only to be told it can take 'several weeks'.
Unimpressed with them. Will give it another couple of weeks, then I'll cut the Bank card up and send everything back to them. They can then close the account.
I'll then skulk my way back to Barclays...

I got a phone call today from a guy from royal bank asking if everything was ok with the switch. My direct debits etc have not yet been switched but I enquired when I would receive the £100. He told me that it wouldn't be till March 2007 as they need to see that I am actually using the account and not just opening it to get the money. Does anyone know if this is true?
  • the whole thing stinks, ok I know they just trying to keep hold of customers and not lose £100, but who in their right mind would change from a bank like Halifax or Cahoot getting good interest and then stay with them for a £100? you could lose more than that in interest!
  • Hi,

It was over 2 months and my £100 still hadn't arrived. If you go on to the website there's a facility to email a complaint. I emailed one day and received an email back the very next day with an apology and confirmation that they were arranging to credit the £100 that day.

If you'd prefer to telephone, the customer complaints line is 0800 015 5035 - I had to ring them about something else and they were extremely helpful and acted quickly. So if you've not had your £100 yet it might be worth giving this number a try.

    Regards

I have to say that the customer service I hace had so far has been very good - I had no problems opening the account, it was all done very quickly and efficiently, and when I rang them about changing my salary over they were very helpful.

Have to wait and see about the bonus though!
