I just called RBS again to chase up the £100 (had to call back during working hours). I spoke to a guy who asked for my account details, a couple of minutes later he said the £100 would go in later today! :T

It closed in August. Keep subscribed to the tips email, there's always great deals like this now and again.

It was quite painful, but I think it was worth the £100.

Those of you that have mentioned above that you were given a certain contact name and number to call about the missing £100, could you let me know the details?

I have called the normal current account numer, but they just say to call my branch. I don't really want to do that as it'll be a bit awkward what with me not living there! So if someone has a better contact number I would rather try that if possible. Thanks!

I gave up with this offer. I followed all the procedures, and the account was opened etc. Rang after a few weeks to find when they'd be switching all the DDs, etc., was told it could be another couple of weeks or so.
A couple of week later I received my first Bank Statement from RBS showing account had nil balance.
Left it another week or more. Nothing. Cut up the Bank card, shredded the cheque and paying in books, and sent a snooty letter telling them I was unimpressed with their service, and instructed them to immediately close the account.
    I believe I had a narrow escape.
  • I was abit worried about calling the branch but I mentioned I was concerned that my bonus was overdue. The lady at my branch ( over the telephone obviously ) just said "oh I can clearly see it is, it should have been dealt with a week or two ago. She than said leave it to me I'll get it sorted in the next couple of days" I checked when I got in and there it was £100!!!!!

Ring the branch be polite and get your money!! It is yours anyway
Help me to help you :santa2:
  • I've had more hassle off RBS in the last few months for various errors by them than the rest of my accounts combined. I also had to ring the branch to chase the £100, but the branch are always polite and I got my £100.
Given the £100 is tax free and you could get a 0% overdraft for 6 months and fee free and 0% balance transfers off the credit card applied for at the same time, it's been worth it!

Could I ask which branch you went with? Mine is Inverness High Street. I won't feel so worried about calling them if I know they have been ok with others! Thanks.

I think my branch is in Edinburgh (sp?). But just give them a ring. It helped that I knew the date of the letter from them saying the transfers had been completed - I then waited a month before calling. If you just say you thought you were due a £100 incentive for opening the account they'll chase it up. The impression I got was that they knew what I was talking about but that they had to chase up each one - the system wasn't automatic.
And, no, I don't live in Scotland and that wasn't questioned.
