Well my switch date was 7th August. So I think i have to wait 28 days from then which is only a week or so. If nothing appears I'll be contacting them to chase!

Hope yours all comes through ok icon7.gif
  • I phoned up as applied roughly month ago only to be told to phone my branch.... yeah in scotland... but he thought that the bonus would only be paid after 6months!!

Surely he is just another badly trained member of staff as usual giving out wrong information as usual! lol

Surely as I have closed my old account and sent over a direct debit plus been sending over wages every week - If they tried to get out of paying it I could take them to court??

ps It was 28 days wasn't it? or it was suppose to be

I have used the switching service just to transfer my salary (not moving direct debits etc). I have letter dated 14 Aug stating a/c opened. Also letter dated 22 Aug headed Confirmation of your account transfer - stating "in line with instructions you gave us leters have been sent to those individuals/organisations from whom you receive regular credits"

From that i assume my salary is being done and I now have to wait the 28 days. Can anyone clarify when the 28 days starts. Its already past 28 days since I applied (application took a while as they kept asking for extra statements etc). Is it 28 days from a/c open or account transfer or 1st salary credit?

In my opinion terms were clear that moving salary alone was enough to qualify for £100 so as soon as its due I shall fight hard for it!!

  • On their web-site it says you can get £100 if you switch by 18th August 2006, well that date's well passed so surely that shouldn't still be advertising it?

I just phoned RBS to ask when I get my £100. They told me I had to phone another number and they gave me the full name of the person I needed to speak to. Seems a little weird all the £100 applications are handled by a single person rather than a department.

I think they've delegated the decision making role to one person so they can reduce on the amount of money they're paying out.

Can anyone link me to the T&Cs? I have used the switching service to pay my salary into the RBS account. Now received a letter saying that I need to switch DDs too to qualify for £100!

I thought it was https://www.rbs.co.uk/switch but that does not seem to be working at the moment. You have to click through a few screens to find it but I am certain it says something like switch "salary and/or direct debits". So the "/or" bit is the key to your complaint.

In order to qualify as a main account, you must use the Royal Bank’s centralised Account Switching Service to transfer Direct Debits and Standing Orders from your existing account elsewhere and/or mandate your salary/pension to the account.

Phone the main call centre and they'll give you the name and number.
