Sorry you've confused me now.
You move into a rented flat and pay £10.50 line rental every month for the six months you are there.Once you leave BT still want another 6x£10.50.
If you move and take a BT line at your new address, BT won't enforce the remainder of your 12 month contract.

So if I were to get a BT line activated and paid the £124.99 connection charge and moved home 7 months later would I have to pay a connection charge at the new property?0

Sending signals down an old copper wire seems so old hat nowadays they were OK years ago but we are now in the 21st century.
So who do you expect to pay the many millions necessary to upgrade the whole of the BT network?
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

The fact you paid a connection charge at the 'old home' makes no difference at the 'new home'
If there is not an active/installed line at the new premises you would have to pay the connection charge.

Sounds better than £125 but I'm not a lover of long contracts.
What if you have to move house withint 18 months you're back to paying money for a line you no longer have.
According to the Terms and Conditions of the half price connection offer:
1. 'Customers moving home and retaining an account with BT will take the remaining minimum period with them.'
2. Customers ceasing service during the minimum period of the special offer will be asked to pay, as a single payment, a sum which is equal to the total of the standard BT Together line rental charges (currently, £11.00Inc. VAT per month) left in the 18 month minimum period.

Hello all,
Just moved to Belfast from Canada, so I am new to all this BT craziness. However, I was hoping you guys could help. I want to get SKY (TV/broadband/phone), but they say I need an active BT line. Fair enough I gather...I will phone BT. Last week, they tell me I have to pay the £125 fee. Shocked, I say no, research the internet, and came across this site, which for someone not from the UK, is absolutely GREAT! I have a dial tone, but can't dial out (although I haven't tried the 17070 thing...will do that tonight). I call BT 2 days ago, get a different person who says that according to his system, there has been BT service previously, and I don't have to pay the connection charge!
Imagine my surprise when today, an engineer leaves me a message, saying that indeed, they have to charge the £125! I called BT again, and the guy there says to me that although the person living in my flat previously had BT service (he had Broadband with them), they still have to "change the wiring". He also says that the other BT guy's system was probably old. I AM SO FRUSTRATED! Can't BT get their story straight? Can someone please give this Canuck some advice as to what to do next. Thanks in advance.0 -
With BT it's any excuse to get money off you. Ask half a dozen people at BT and you get half a dozen different answers.0

BT seem to be having more problems than normal these days as the regulator has effectively forced them to use new IT systems that they are having trouble with and have not yet fully rolled out.
There have been reports that if you call Sky and tell them that you want their service - but do not currently have a BT line, that they will refund the £125 connection charge..

Has anyone ever received a reply to their complaint made via BT's online complaints web site?
I have submitted at least 7 requests for information and complaints using the on line website and have received only 1 response (which was "please resubmit your details"). This is crazy from a "communications" company.
We are currently in dispute between BT and TT about mis-information. BT have been absolutely useless. At least TT have bothered to contact us.
I just realised today that when BT charge you for stoppage of service, they charge you the contract period remaining, plus the 50p cost per month for paper billing. Joke!
It seems ridiculous one company can old consumers to ransom by offering an 12 month minimum contract. Monopoly?
Anyway, curious to know if and how to get a response from BT on the issue of disputing cancellation charges....0 -
Kingston Communications, also known as Affiniti can provide Line Rental and connection charges..
No, this company does not use BT lines, this is their own lines, their own gear.
I'd rather use BT though, however much I hate them0
