Hi could you inform us by giving the web address or attach it where this notice 44/07 is found on the BT site??? for a connection of £62.50 and does this apply to new lines???:rolleyes:Hi Thanks to op for this thread,I only found out about this special offer through this website. Today I spoke to 3 bt employees and not one mentioned this half price connection offer (I am moving to a new address soon )so you can imagine how elated I was when I came on here and found this information. I went back to them and quoted the bt notice number 44/07 and got the discount no problem but if I hadn't mentioned it they would have been happy for me to pay the full connection charge. They still make you pay up front though and "credit" your account with £62.50 and I won't be paying direct debit until this has been used up. thanks again to eveyone. shrewdal :T0

Hi
I am just about to move in to a newbuild and have found out I have to pay this 125 quid to BT and have a 12 month contract with them. I want to use talktalk as there complete package including broadband is so much cheaper! Does anyone know if this is right....... is this not a monopoly? I don't mind paying the installation charge to have the line put into the house but to commit to their high prices for a year is really not on!
Many Thanks

The problem is with TalkTalk, who could provide a new line for you though BT Openreach but they choose not to and make the customer pay! You can pay BT an early cancellation fee to leave but it's TalkTalk that you should complain to. Search for post on half price installation with BT. see here. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I always thought if you have a phone with BT and move to a new address and there is a phoneline there and it just needs switched on you have a 3 month min contract.
Suppose it's changed since the last time I did it.0 -

So if you moved into a rented flat for six months you'd still have to pay 12 months line rental...oh dear. :eek:0

Must be Christmas
Makes a nice change to have good news about BT.So if you moved into a rented flat for six months you'd still have to pay 12 months line rental...oh dear.
Not quite:
From 1st May 2007, for customers ending their service early, we replaced the existing charges with a policy that requires customers who have ordered a line on or after 1st May to pay the outstanding line rental for the 12-month minimum term of their contract, up to a maximum of £70 (incl. VAT). Customers moving home and transferring BT service to their new address will be subject to a new minimum term from the date of start of service at the new address.
When you cancel the contract you only pay the outstanding line rental for the 12-month minimum term of their contract, up to a maximum of £70 (incl. VAT). So if say 3 months were left you would only pay 3 x £10.50p= £34.50p.

Sorry you've confused me now.
You move into a rented flat and pay £10.50 line rental every month for the six months you are there.Once you leave BT still want another 6x£10.50.
Yay or nay ??????0
