There isnt any option on the online application to get the £125 fee waived by signing up for the 18 month plan, so would rather do this by phone as dont want to get charged.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=28661743&postcount=5Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Thanks Jem16,
Would I also be able to use O2/Be broadband if I took up a line rental and calls package with TalkTalk. Afriad I don't know much about LLU's and how they exactly work with regards to Phone and/or broadband packages0 -

If your line rental is with TalkTalk then no you wouldn't. Your line rental must be with BT.Afriad I don't know much about LLU's and how they exactly work with regards to Phone and/or broadband packages
This might help;
What is Local Loop Unbundling?
Local Loop Unbundling (LLU) enables operators to connect directly to the consumer via BT's copper local loops and then add their own equipment to offer broadband and other services. This process involves operators accessing BT’s local exchange buildings to connect to BT’s network of copper lines which connect them to homes and businesses.
There are two types of unbundled line:
A fully unbundled line gives operators the exclusive use of the copper line.
A shared access line only gives operators the use of the high frequency channel used for broadband and will also be used by the customer's fixed-line voice provider.
Ofcom believes that development of the LLU market, to allow operators to target infrastructure investment and to develop scale in the creation of high-speed data services, will be critical in ensuring a fully competitive and innovative telecoms market for the long term.
Basically if your line rental stays with BT you can have a full choice of BB suppliers. Some of those suppliers can provide LLU access for BB only and if they do it will be cheaper and can be faster if they have installed ADSL2+ into the exchange where BT might only have ADSL. For example I can get BB with O2 for £7.50pm as I'm an O2 customer and they can give me 7Mb speed as they use ADSL2+. With a non LLU supplier I can only get 4Mb and it would probably cost more as they have to pay BT for the use of their equipment.
If your line rental moves to TalkTalk or Sky for example you have been fully unbundled and can only use that supplier's BB. It also creates extra problems if you wish to move away as your line would need to return to BT.
I prefer to keep the choice open by staying with BT for my line rental.0 -
I'm being charged twice for line rental by BT (one for my phone use and one for my broadband) and have been for since I connected a year ago and yet I bought it as a package. Surely this is illegal?! Can you help me or tell me I'm wrong?!0
