No it costs £14.53 for the evening and weekends call package. You only get the weekends for £11.54 with free installation offer. And it has to be an 18 month contract with them both.

I feel robbed as having been a BT customer all my life my xpartner has just moved to a new house and had to pay the extra and the BT engineers told her it was a live line and wouldn't need a full connection charge. Try telling that to the Indians though. I got a BT chat helper to wave the connection charge and do an online application and they ignored it completely. I eventually found out via this site about the free connection offer so had to reluctantly accept it just to get the thing connected.
• Hi Rabsteele,

I would like to take a look at this for you to see what is happening with this order. Please could you drop me an email with any order number you might have and please also include your forum username? My email address can be found by clicking on my profile. Once I have received those details I will investigate this for you.

Cheers

Paddy

Don't be conned with this lot they are helping no-one but BT customer relations. I have had no answer to my compaints here.

Seems to me the connection charges are being levied across the board these days. It's just as well they have a free connection offer to tie you to them for 18 months otherwise you'd be off to a better deal straight away.

cheers rabsteele,
I have also been looking at broadband and the O2/Be package looks good but I think I may have to switch LLU to them, can anybody confirm whether this would be a cancellation of the BT Free Line contract.

The O2/BE offer is a broadband only offer - it's LLU for broadband services. Your phone line stays with BT and calls are made through them as normal.
can anybody confirm whether this would be a cancellation of the BT Free Line contract.

It's not affected. Your phone calls are still with BT.
• OK, first post guys so be nice! lol

My parents are moving house end of this month, and have had the same BT problems as everyone else with the £125.00 connection fee. As pensioners, no way can they either a, have no phone or b, afford this.

So imagine my delight when I see the free connection offer posted here! Gonna call them and scatter some pigeons tomorrow! :T

BUT, does anybody know if the line 'Customers moving home and retaining an account with BT can take the remaining minimum term of their chosen calling plan with them.' means that we can avoid the minimum 18 months?

We already have an account with BT, so does this mean we only have to take the remaining period of this with us and still not pay the extortionate fee?

Hi Rabsteele,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have been checking my email and I am unable to find one from you. Would it please be possible for you to resend that email? I also ask that you include your forum username in the subject field as this will help me identify you. I will keep an eye out and reply to you as soon as I have received this.

Thanks

I am the official company representative of BT. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. • I sent the email to btcare@bt.com Is this the address. I don't see any other way of emailing you via the profile. I realise you can't advertise contacts but I have resent it to this address anyway. and marked rabsteele to paddy as the subject.
• Could anyone tell me, is there a certain BT number I need to ring to talk to someone about switching from virgin? There isnt any option on the online application to get the £125 fee waived by signing up for the 18 month plan, so would rather do this by phone as dont want to get charged.

Thanks
