Just signed up for the same offer - many thanks!
The 10 calls a month... do they have to amount to a certain cost, or can I get away with 10 one second conversations?0 -

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

(Just have to figure out how on earth to make 10 calls a month now - I'm more of a 10 calls per year person!).
You're welcome. I'm glad you got the deal. :T I don't know why they have told you that you have to make 10 calls a month (without looking back is it because this is for a business line?) I had an e-mail after I had rung BT to say that because we pay monthly direct debit we must make two inclusive calls a month. I think I can just about manage that as like you, I rarely use the phone.
Edited to add this snippit from BT e-mail to me:To avoid being charged for this service, you need to make chargeable or
inclusive with BT. If you're billed monthly, you must make at least two
calls per month using BT. If you're billed quarterly, you need to make at
least six calls every three months using BT. If you don't, you may be
charged GBP 0.98 per month, or GBP 2.94 per quarter for this service.
Calls using BT Broadband Talk are not included.
If you're not currently making calls with BT, but would like to, please
call 0808 100 4041. If you'd prefer to make one-off calls that are
chargeable to BT, simply dial 1280 before you dial the phone number you
wish to call.0 -

Thanks for this. Instead of phoning takeaways and saying 'Wrong number', I was just going to phone BT on their 0800 800 150 number and hang up when I get the 'Please tell us your phone number so we can help you' message (x10). I'm presuming 0800 numbers are still free at anytime on a landline. But will they still count towards my 'ten-a-month'?______________________________Darth Traderusing the Force of Compoundingsince a long time ago...0 -

If you dont need to order takeaways call the speaking clock on
0207 043 1320. This definitely counts towards your 10 calls a month.;)0 -
you can ask the post office to connect your line for you - it apears to be marginally cheaper than BT - but I have not found out yet why there appears to be a lack of competition for this service
sometimes BT does a special offer - if you can get by with mobile and mobile broadband until such time an "offer" becomes available?
don't agree that the cabling etc costs BT so much I am sure that the builder must pay and fit this as they must provide all services in a new property.
Perhaps its time to contact Ofsted about this matter?0 -
sorry should have said this matter needs to be raised with Oftel (not ofsted!)0

Their are numerous suppliers that will arrange for a phone line to be connected and rent it to you.
The builder would not pay for the work in the exchange, and the wiring between the exchange and the property for starters.0 -
