  • Cheers Sponge, I`ll get on to that tomorrow when I`m off work. :T

I signed up to the anytime package and as I was also getting the special offer of £30 installation (with 18 month contract) they wouldn't give me the special offer price of £4.85 pm (as on that web page). It's their 'normal' price of £5.82.

I'm now having second thoughts about the unlimited plan and may drop it to the (hopefully) free evenings and weekends.

Just so you know, with the connection charge offer, the call packages are all full price, so even evenings and weekends aren't free. The only free package is the weekend one, so you'd probably be better off staying with the anytime one. It's only an extra £1 a month, and you did save nearly £100 on your connection charge.

*Speaking as someone who works at bt, please be nice to the people on the phone who drew the bad job of telling you about the charge, it's not our fault, and if you are nice then you will most likely be offered the reduced rate whether or not you you previously knew about it.*
  • Could anybody tell me whether the £30 installation offer is still available please? A previous poster wrote 'until March' - if that is 1st March, then does anybody know how frequently this offer crops up, as time isn't at all an issue for me but cost is? Oh, and I'm a trifle confused - was this offer for a reconnection of a previous line (ie box is on the wall); or a new installation (I need a hole drilled and a new box etc)?

Sorry for loads of questions, but I'm desperate for cheap installation as I'm about to end up doubling my telephony costs to £60pm just for a decent broadband connection. :(

    Thanks in advance.

The BT £29.99 connection of a new line (18 month contract) has been ongoing for some time, suggest you ask BT if it still runs on.
  • Thanks JHP for commenting. I went onto the BT website today to look for a phone number to contact them about the special offer. I got a pop-up 'LiveChat' console, so I asked on there. The rep said there wasn't any such offer. It wasn't clear whether she meant there isn't any such offer now. I asked when a similar offer might be introduced (as I'm happy to wait another year or two if I have to - and if I move house in the meantime, there might be a line already installed). She said not in the foreseeable future, and tried to get me to pay the full price spread over a direct debit.
Maybe I'll try phoning a few times next week instead, in case it's a similar situation to the poster LXGB (post #1164) found. If not I'll post again to say the offer is now closed, unless anybody else - particularly the poster here who works for BT - can shed any further light.

The offer definitely did exist. Try calling BT on 01324 452382 they were the people dealing with it.
  • Thanks BillSavings! I'll try that number on Monday.

The comment from the rep was certainly ambiguous enough for me to think about whether she was saying the offer never existed - but without actually saying that. She could have simply said the offer has finished, and that would have been that. I couldn't clarify, as she was asking me questions and giving info about spreading the £122.33 over 12 months - so I said I'd think about it and exited the LiveChat.

For what it's worth, the offer was certainly still running at the end of January, because my son used it. It took a bit of persuading, though, to get them to agree to it because it's always been hidden away for some reason, and nobody seems to know about it.

If it isn't on now (and it may well still be on, with few BT staff knowing about it) the chances are it will be back again soon.

Heinz might well have a lot more detail.
  • I have a bit of a problem. There is an active bt line but it's a business line in our home. I had a phone call from BT asking me to contact the previous owner, but I can't get in contact with them, and I need a residential line.
