BT Connection Charges (merged threads)

Anyone know if there are any magic codes to give BT to get a discounted reconnection? They're trying to charge me £122 and naturally, I'd rather not pay it! I got through to someone who said there may be some offers in 'the future' but wouldn't specify further. GRRRR!!!0

Try and negotiate an 18 month contract with them or simply say ask if they are offering the 29.99 reconnection offer. Look at some recent posts ^^^^^^ for more infoThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Be careful anyone who agrees for BT to add the connection fee to their monthly direct debit!!
When I was told this would happen, what some div in BT managed to do was switch my account to Quaterly, with the install charge to be taken at the next payment.
I'd just moved house and rather stupidly didnt't realise that BT were not taking payments, next thing I get a letter saying that the next bill would be over £200. So I rang them up and pointed out it was their fault and that I couldn't afford that much going out of my account, so they said no problem, it'll cost £44 a month until its cleared instead, which I was fine with.
What happened the next week? They take £200 out of my account!2009 Wins.

To make BT give me the £30 reconnection charge you have to ask specifically for it and claim you are moving from virgin....
They tie you in to an 18 month contract at £11.50 a month. You have to pay £2.64 extra for the free weekend and evening calls package.
Hope this helps!0 -

According to their website this package is £0 LINK HERE.
We got the weekend package for £0 with an 18 month contract when we reconnected for £29.95 - didn't know about the evening/weekend one at the time, just asked for the cheapest and they didn't mention the E/W one.0 -
I signed up to the anytime package and as I was also getting the special offer of £30 installation (with 18 month contract) they wouldn't give me the special offer price of £4.85 pm (as on that web page). It's their 'normal' price of £5.82.
I'm now having second thoughts about the unlimited plan and may drop it to the (hopefully) free evenings and weekends.0 -

I'm now having second thoughts about the unlimited plan and may drop it to the (hopefully) free evenings and weekends.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Has the contract actually started though? I have until 24 hours before installation date to cancel it and surely any contract doesn't officially start until the day they provide the service? In my case, the 5th of March.
Is it true that the free 0845 and 0870 calls are only during the same time as whatever plan you're on. So, if eve & w/e, then during that time and not the middle of a weekday? So if I want free calls to those numbers during the week, I need to go on the anytime plan?
Not to worry. Found it:If you're on the Unlimited Weekend Plan, these calls will be free at the weekends, if you're on the Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan, they're free evenings and weekends and if you're on the Unlimited Anytime Plan, they're free 24/7.0 -
Can anyone help, is the £30 reconnection offer still on; if so could someone post a link or give a Tel. number. Cheers in advance.0

Just call BT and ask for the £30 installation. You should get it no problem. No special code or phone number required. At least, that's how it worked for me.
