Free connection is 18 month contract with all the strings that come with it (10 calls a month with BT charged or not) N1SEXYTING vbmenu_register("postmenu_16665065", true); I would check you have been sold correct.
I've been connected and receive the paperwork and it states 12 months on my contract, I guess the lady did not know it was meant to be 18 months. Well hope I have a better time with BT than I did with Virgin0 -
Thanks for the comments regarding connection charges to BT.
I hope my experience might be useful to someone using Talktalk.
I rang BT a few months ago to see about changing back from my unbundled Talktalk line to BT. They quoted me £125 as a reconnection charge. I decided to wait a bit longer so that my cancellation charge with Talktalk would be smaller. After seeing the posts on this forum regarding free connection I decided to give them another try before 23rd December so that I didn't miss the deadline for the offer. I called the 0800 800 150 number asking the guy for the free connection using the FCCNOV code and was ready for a bit of a battle. He told me that there was no need for me to use it because they would reconnect me for nothing! BT must have changed their policy recently!
I am delighted to be going back on 12th Jan with a 12 month contract.:j0 -
I used phone number 01324 452382 quoted FCCNOV and got the deal straight away without being diverted or fobbed off. Phoned at 3.30pm on a weekday, which could be an important factor to anyone looking to do this in the future.
The phone operative said the cost of installation would appear on the bill, but would then have two separate credits added later to cover the cost. I wonder if this means you actually pay the money first? Suppose I should've asked at the time
I pretty much did exactly the same thing and had no problems at all in getting this offer the second time round (the first sales person didn't know what I was talking about). However have just had my first phone bill through and the credit was only for £92.97 making the connection charge £30. Also, the charges for the line rental are £14.14 a month instead of £10.50.
The first person I spoke to said that there was no such offer as a free connection, only the £30 connection offer. He also said that the £10.50 a month calling plan wasn't available if I had the connection offer, and I would have to pay £14.45 a month for the whole 18 months. I could revert to £10.50 a month calling plan but then I'd have to pay the £125 connection charge.
I tried explaining the offer that I took up, and the fact that the sales woman knew exactly what the offer was and even told me I could go on free evening and weekends for £10.50 a month (which I took up). Unforunately I couldn't find the link to this in time but I had a promise from him that BT would retrieve the taped conversation from the original sales person and the manager would call back, probably on Monday.
I then found the link and called again and spoke to someone else who also said that free connection wasn't available, only the £30 connection offer. I took him to this link and after about 5 mins of being on hold, he said he could honour it and the remaining credits would be added to the bill. He also said that my calling plan would have to remain at £14.45 a month if I wanted free evening and weekend calls. But I could revert to the £10.50 a month plan and get free weekend calls only, which is what I originally wanted to do but the sales person told me I could have evening calls for free. I think there is an offer with free evening and weekend calls for £10.50 but it can't be used in conjunction with other offers such as free connection.
So, after about half an hour, I finally have the issue sorted! Just a warning to anyone who also took this offer and haven't checked your bill yet.0 -

We signed up this afternoon to the £29.99 reconnection fee that ran out today. We had the cheapest package, i.e. £10.27 (with paperless billing) with weekend calls free. It's for reconnecting the line in a house we are moving into soon.
OH asked the customer service agent about the bit in the Ts and Cs which said 30 chargeable calls every 3 months/10 chargeable calls per month are to be made and he was told that it doesn't apply
On reading the Ts and Cs again we noticed this
2. Customers must make at least 30 chargeable or inclusive calls every three month period or 10 chargeable calls or chargeable inclusive calls per month if you are billed monthly.
I've underlined the bit about inclusive calls as I'm now wondering whether the 30 calls every three months can be part of the package, i.e. made during the free weekend periods???? and not calls that have to be paid for.
It might be worth another phone call or waiting to see what the bills come in as. Trouble is one agent tells you one thing and another agent tells you something else  .
It might get a bit complicated anyway as we use Virgin (non cable) for broadband and phone so only use BT for the line rental, no calls go through them.0 -
TomsMom.
Inclusive calls do count so you might possibly be able to use 1280 to place some inclusive calls via BT at weekends to qualify. I say might possibly because Virgin Non Cable may have changed the way they deliver their calls and 1280 access will no longer work.0 -
Thanks for that jhp. BT are coming to reconnect the line on 19th January. We wont be moving in to the house probably until March as the builders will be in for a few weeks. We'll check up about the override thing to use BT for a few weekend calls and make sure the 1280 code is right.
Our Virgin BB contract runs out in February so we'll have to do our homework and see if we can get another good value BB package. At present we have unlimited BB Bundle 2 with free evening and weekend calls and pay £10 per month, that was a special offer from Virgin when they changed us over from NTL dial-up to Virgin broadband. Can't remember what it's supposed to go up to after the 12 months, could be something like £18 per month so want to get a package as near to the £10 as we can. We don't download anything so don't need anything fancy. We'll see if we can sweet talk Virgin to start with as we have no problem with them as a provider and it will be easier than starting over with someone new. Then we'll have to do the moving house thing a few weeks later!
Thanks again for the info.0 -
Are there any new offers out now? or about to start? as I am now looking to get a new connection. Unfortunately I've obviously just missed this deal.0
