called BT about the free conncetion offer and got transfered 6 times before they put me through to anyone who knew anything about it. Finally spoke to someone who kindly set everything up for me right there and them
The best number for anyone to call wishing to set this up is 013244523820 -
01324 452382 is the correct number to call. the ref number to quote is FCCNOV . you will need to say you have had a mailer that has that ref number on it to make things easy an have no probs getting the offer as this is really supposed to be for cable customers returning to bt who have been mailed direct. If you have the ref number they cant refuse.0

They cant refuse anyway, hence the notice on the BT systems a few days ago saying anyone who says they have seen it can have it.The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 20

Many thanks to the posters who let us know about this.
Im moving, had a horrendous time with BT and the line at this property so it's sort of compo for me!
It took just over an hour, I was transferred 14 times but the call was included in my free minutes and I remained cheerful throughout!
Thanks again, saved what is a fortune to someone like me

Just called BT trying to use this offer as we're moving into our new home which has recently been renovated and the builders ripped our sockets out! Had no luck with BT unfortunately as this offer is only valid for reconnection to the exchange, it doesn't cover the cost of an engineer coming out to install the socket. So looks like i'll have to pay the £113, oh well worth a try!0

Well, I just managed to sign up but got the run-around first, transferred between eight different people, each of whom assured me that they were transferring me to someone who would be able to handle it.
Finally, I was told to phone 0800 0852750, an automated message asked me to press one for new connections and I was put through to a guy who told me I needed to phone 0800 0852750!
I laughed and explained that was the number I had just dialed, also explained that he was the ninth person I'd spoken to and he said, hang on, I'll transfer you directly. A guy called Dan then handled the whole thing, nice and easy, took about ten minutes.
The most worrying thing is that the very first person I spoke to, when I phoned the first number, recommended here, 01324 452382, I got a fairly brusk Northern guy who told me that, if I took up that offer, I would not be able to sign up to broadband from any provider other than BT.
I pointed out that there was nothing about that in the offer details and he, rather unconvincingly, shrugged that off by saying that not everything has to appear in a leaflet. I didn't want to push the point or be refused the offer but I did innocently ask if he was sure, if that wouldn't be just a tiny bit illegal, just a wee bit of a breach of competition rules infringement, but he said, no, that's the deal and it's binding because this call is being recorded, but he was clearly uncomfortable at being questioned and put me through to the next person without specifically asking me whether I accepted those terms.
No-one else mentioned anything about this, and it was on a different phone call (to the 0800 number) that I actually signed up and neither Dan nor the guy preceding him mentioned anything about that, so, I'm hoping that I haven't committed myself to anything, because I definitely wouldn't want to use BT as my broadband provider.
I suspect that the first guy was just chancing his arm, deliberately misinterpreting and extending the provision about not using another telephonic supplier to broadband too. That feels like a pretty flagrant breech of competition rules, misleading less confident, more vulnerable customers.
Or might it be true that they're actually enforcing this?0 -
the actual deal (see 38/08 at the bottom of this link) makes no reference to broadband...so i think your adviser was 'confusing' the issue...
despite all the gripes with getting through, and the 18 month commitment, it does represent a good deal. i don't think we would have seen anything like this from BT ten years ago!0 -
I called today and quoted the ref FCCNOV and the lady knew what i was talking about right away.
Getting installed at my new flat next Wednesday.
Thanks OP.0 -
Has anyone managed to get this deal that has had to have a new line actually installed by an engineer? As my previous post mentioned, I called up trying to use this offer as our builders ripped our phone socket out and we need to have an actual phone line put in to our house, but they told us this offer is only for the connection to the exchange and those reconnection charges.
Would be good to know if it's worth persisting as other have done on here but need to get a line installed quite soon so won't keep trying if it's actually not possible! Would appreciate any feedback!0 -

Which phone number did you use binz? I'm going to call next week and there have been a few numbers listed on this board (with varying levels of success).0
