I have just been hit with the possiblity of this fee, which my landord did not tell me about when I viewed the property. Now, of course it's too late.
I understand that this fee is necissary, but its alot of money to some people. Does anyone know if BT or the council or someone offers help with this sort of thing for students/people on benefits etc?0 -
Hey there...I just read your post and would like to check what you have...did you get the £125 fee down to £29.99 or is this some other package? And what is this 02000....number?0

Just read who's post! Your posts make no sense if you don't quote. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Between 24th November 2008 and 23rd December 2008, BT are offering residential customers free connection (saving £124.99) - subject to them taking a 18 month line rental contract.
See this post for details.

Hi there,
I am moving and need to get a new line installed at my new place - just rang up to do this and quoted the above Notice. 20 minutes later and they were still denying all knowledge. I even went as far as quoting the link over the phone to the lady!
She said that as they had no knowledge they couldnt offer it to me (got quite rude about it actually at one point) and said I could only get offers which were quoted on the bt.com website. I did highlight that you could indeed access this page via bt.com if you looked for it!
In the end it was promised a manager was looking into it and would give me a call back. I have their names so hopefully they wont just fob me off. Any ideas if they still refuse this to me if/when I get a call back?
Thanks!0 -

Rang them back and got a call centre in Scotland instead of Lancaster. Went through it all again and pointed the lady in the direction of this notice, after speaking to her manager they agreed to honour it. They said they thought it was meant for cable customers only but as it had no mention on that they agreed to honour it. Nice one!
Cheers for the pointer on this thread Sunil.0 -
same here
phone today they knew nothing about it - they did however check and it is correct and is a brand new offer - they are going ahead with my free connection which is a bonus !0 -
Just tried to get the free connection myself as I am the process of moving to a house that has had a 'phone working in it but now has been disconnected..
Sales guy knew nothing about the offer till I quoted it to him:T
After 20 minutes of me holding, he came back and told me the offer was for new customers only (signing up on-line) and was not valid for me, as a current customer, moving house (therefore £124.99 connection charge).
Looks like my account will be closed and the Mrs will be signing up on-line in the next couple of days.
Thanks to every one on the forum for informing me of this offer and saving me a wedge of cash :j0
