I'm with tiscali for calls and broadband, but have the line rental with BT, which I'd prefer to keep that way. Haven't had any letters or emails off talktalk as yet though - will the increase apply to me because of the line rental bit?
I was thinking of taking the calls back to BT as well, so I don't have to pay their caller display charges, so might be looking for broadband only anyway. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Ive ditched tiscali and signed up plusnet in evening of 21/12, my modem arrived this morning, and as tiscali had cut me off last night, I made a call to plusnet to find out my status and a nice man ensured I could join plusnet b/band right away. I think it's quite a good turn around at this time of year..
Im pleased so far with plusnet as my exchange is not LLU so I havent much choice.
I didnt want my calls to tiscali as I understand I wouldnt be able to use 2 carriers on one line, I currently use 18185 for all calls.0 -

Yes, because TT will want to LLU your line-so unless you take line rental through them, the increase will apply. BT line rental already includes the basic call package. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I'm the same as elsien - just on BB (12.99 a month),no letter - should I contact them as I don't want them just hiking the price up without notifying me?0

appleblossom & elsien
I'm guessing you have Tiscali/TalkTalk BroadBand & phone services but still have a BT line to pay rental (but also perhaps some number to dial if you wish to access their phone line/services)?
They should have to contact you but then might be worth looking as perhaps you are going to be the next type of users to be moved?
From what I saw it was approx £14.99 for phone & broadband but be aware that you might be capped to the 40gb monthly limit also (from unlimited)
These are the 'deals' here similar to yours?
O2 seem to have a pretty decent service, click here...
Has anyone else had the speed of their broadband drop considerably recently/since talktalk took over?0 -

I rang Tiscali re the price increase, I am just on BB , I was told i would not be getting a price rise as it did not effect the package im on, i believe my BB is through LLU although my line rental and calls are BTsanfly0 -

What does LLU mean?
Local Loop Unbundling (LLU) enables operators to connect directly to the consumer via BT's copper local loops and then add their own equipment to offer broadband and other services. This process involves operators accessing BT’s local exchange buildings to connect to BT’s network of copper lines which connect them to homes and businesses.
There are two types of unbundled line:- A fully unbundled line gives operators the exclusive use of the copper line.
- A shared access line only gives operators the use of the high frequency channel used for broadband and will also be used by the customer's fixed-line voice provider.
