I spoke on the phone to two different people and got two different stories . I am on broadband only 8mbps @ £14.99. It seems that if I want to continue with it I will have to pay another £5.00 per month, unless I get my phone from them too, which I do not . What a scam !

"I am an insomniac, so I was really excited when I was able to get a full night's sleep. I said to a friend, 'Just keep your fingers crossed that I get lucky again tonight!' Realizing what I said, I tried to correct it and said, 'No, I mean, I just hope that I get some tonight!' After that, I decided to shut up."

A possible result today. After sending a complaint to Tiscali/Talk Talk Customer Services, I called back and spoke to someone in CS who did appear to have authority to do something about the situation. As a result, I have been told that I will be given two months credit to make up for the additional £5/month I would have to pay Talk Talk over the forthcoming 6 months to avoid penalties from BT.

Here's hoping come February I won't be having to try and unravel a payment being taken!!

Same problem here. I have a further problem in that I'm fairly sure that when I signed up to BT for their inclusive weekend/evening calls package (bundled in with line rental) it was a 12 or 18 month deal.

  • I have posted my complaint on Tiscali's forum ,and the moderator more or less told me what they are doing is legal and hard luck !I may test the legality of all this in court . I don't like the sharp practice being used by talktalk. Smacks of totalitarianism.

    Okay,

I am in the same boat. I intend to call tiscali and cancel my contract stating that they are in breach of my previous contract which is still valid.

The questions I need answering are.

1: Can i just cancel and apply for a new broadband supplier?
2: What is a MAC code? Do I need one? and for how long are the valid after I have received it?

    Thanks in advance

To avoid a broadband cease charge you should use a MAC from your old ISP. It is then valid for 30 days after receipt.
If you cancel and reapply, then you will have a gap in your service as well as a cease charge from Openreach.

Cheers, I realised I am not under contract to Tiscali anymore so I have called (been put on hold for 10mins hung up on put on hold for 30min) and got my mac code generated and ready to be sent to me. Fingers crossed all I need to do now is find a decent option else where for broadband only.

Quick update - Just got my MAC code via text. Within 20minutes of speaking to them on the phone.
