• Worked out I am roughly going to save over £100 with my new ISP (over the next 12 months contract). Just have to find out when I can cancel and change over.

Actually quite happy about this now, remembered TalkTalk used to spam phone call me (despite never ticking the please call me).

Once you've signed up, go to 'Settings' to enable POP3 email. Once you've done that, you can then set up your new acccount in your preferred email client (Outlook Express, Windows Mail etc) in order to download G-Mail into that.
All the stages for different email software are fully explained in the G-mail help pages.
Then you can dump Tiscali/TT.

... Interestingly, I was also told that it is possible to "take" an addres over to another provider, so in theory I could use my XXX@tixcali.co.uk address with another ISP. Not sure how true this is - possibly marketing hype to tempt me over to BT?
It is true - sort of. I have an email account for a broadband supplier I left 2 years ago and it is still active. But you are dependent upon the ISP not culling the account. If they do, you are not in a strong position to get it reinstated.

• Talk Talk rep! I notice you havent replied to this thread! What are your views on the shoddy customer service and the price increase to customers?
• I'm very confused, almost exactly the same offer is being advertised to what I signed up for. Yet I'm being told I now have to pay £19.99 from £14.99 if I want the same service halfway through my 12 month contract!?!?

http://www.tiscali.co.uk/products/broadband/index-broadband.html

Broadband only
£6.49a month
for the 1st 3 months, then £14.99
• Up to 8Mb superfast broadband*

Has anyone phoned and spoke to customer service to see if they will reduce this price? I have phoned twice now and both times they say someone will ring me back but no call! Im going to rephone tomorow!

I got passed between 5 different departments yesterday, all of whom did not have any authority to offer anything in the way of a price reduction to compensate. Even the retentions department did not have any authority - what a joke!!

However, I was told by the retentions department that if I signed up to the new £19.99 deal before a certain time, I would receive a £20 Amazon voucher, and could then take up any other deal to include phone calls when my BT tie-in ends in June. At least this way I would effectively only be £10 down, but it still pains me

I ended up e-mailing the complaints department to invite them to make an offer of some form of compensation for the additional charges I will incur with an address given to me by the retentions department, only to receive a return e-mail telling me I had to submit via the website and the complaints form on there!!

Unfortunately, in our area we only have the option of Talk Talk/Tiscali, BT Broadband or Virgin Broadband, the latter two working out in the region of £38 for broadband + evening/weekend calls and phone line. Talk Talk is currently offering £28.30 for anytime calls, broadband and line rental.

As one of Tiscali's 'most valued customers' I have today received their 'fantastic deal' offer too.

I have been a broadband-only customer of Tiscali for years and have generally been very happy with the service provided, but as soon as Talk Talk became involved (and we were told that nothing would be affected) I knew it would only be a matter of time before shoddy treatment would be on the horizon.

So if I want to keep my Tiscali broadband, it will now cost me £19.99 instead of £14.99, unless I have the amazing free package on offer. Reading the (very) small print it would also seem my unlimited downloads is now to be capped at 40gb per month. And should I choose the amazing free package, every call that is made outside the inclusive weekend landline calls will be subject to a 9.25p connection charge. What a rip off.

I think I'm going to opt for one of their amazing free MAC codes instead.
