Hi everyone,
I've received a ticket from Excel this morning. I parked in a retail area which is free but apparently because the football was on in our town your only allowed to park there for an hour and 30 minutes. I had been shopping for a new television. I had no clue, I had been parking there for years.
I spoke to the unprofessional looking ticket officer and all he said was did you not see the sign coming into the parking area. I said to him "why the hell would I be looking for signs when I know where the bloody shops are". Anyway I went to look for this "sign" and guess where it was....on the island of the roundabout entrance, in small print. Why on earth would anyone be looking for signs when they have to begin manoeuvring safely and why is there a sign on the island, that's a first. I'm already convinced this is a scam and it's not the first time I've ignored a ticket from a company like this.
However I have to give it to them, this ticket looks very convincing, much more convincing than the previous one I received from another company.0 -
If it's from Excel and it's headed up 'PARKING charge notice' then it's a fake one even if it copies the look of a real PCN. A real PCN from a Council is called a Penalty Charge Notice; a subtle but important difference.
Check out the top thread 'PPC letters' for the Excel scary letter-chain to ignore:

And then also read another top sticky thread 'welcome, please read before posting' if you haven't ever seen the Watchdog paper aeroplane clip linked on that thread. Well worth a laugh!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi, I have read all the posts and I just wanted a little more feedback about this so called cowboy which is what I would definatley call them. My fiancee was at a local retail park in Stockport in comet, unfortunatley he had never been to this retail park before and did not know it was a pay and display carpark and failed to notice the signs. Typlical man! However he has been issued with a £60 parking fine for parking with failure to display a ticket. He was driving MY car which is even more typical. The ticket has been issued by this so called company excel parking services ltd, If the fee was in line with the local council £20-£30 I could maybe have bought myself to pay this to save the hassel, however I am 6 1/2 months pregnant and £60 is a ludicrus price to be made to pay. After reading all the posts on the internet and this forum I am happy to carry forward and not pay on the gounds that I was not driving and also the cost is a ridiculus price.
Am i doing the right thing refusing to pay this and shall I wait for any postal correspondance before I inform them I was not driving and I am not happy to disclose who the driver was.
WHAT can they do???
Would luv to hear you opinion.0 -
Writing to any Private parking ticket company is very bad advice that should be re-written.
These are not fair people and once they get a hit, or a bite they will commence harassment.
You can not argue with these people, they are liars, crooks and thieves and plenty of proven evidence shows that those who pay hoping it will go away get hit for demands and threats for even more money, like all scammers they come back until you stand up.
So ignore !Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

The management of that retail park must really hate paying customers if they have a pay & display car-park.
Ignore Excel, where it's true the landowner has suffered a small loss (whatever the Pay & Display amount is), only the landowner can sue you for those damages, not a 3rd party0 -

If you care to read the posts above you will see that you don't have to pay. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
I have had two tickets from Excel at a car park in Oldham. The first one I received was because my car was parked incorrectly in the bay (my tyres were on the white lines), not having had one before I paid up straight away. I then avoided parking there for as long as I could (I need to for work), but unfortunately I had to use it again. The very next time I did I received another ticket for overstaying my ticket - the machine had issued it incorrectly, even though I'd paid the correct amount. I sent off an appeal to the company which was rejected, I sent another, which was also rejected and was told not further appeals would be accepted and to pay up within 7 days.
After reading this forum I'm now considering following all of your advice and not paying up but am slightly worried as I still need to park there on a daily basis - what if my car gets clamped??? Advice would be most appreciated...0 -
I had the same with G/F over a year ago now, I posted here for re assurance too. Got a few threatening letters for a few weeks or so exactly as described here.
A year later NOTHING. PLease dont worry just ignore the lot.
