Orange Itemised Billing - £1.50 (merged threads)

Is anyone else as angry as i am over the fact that orange are about to start charging 1.50 for getting itemised phone bills? I can't believe it. I know some might think i am overreacting and probably would just say that if i don't want to pay, i should opt for the regular bill but, i have to say, i am one of those people who scrutinises my phone bills and, believe me, i have found more than a couple of wierd charges that were put on my bill for no reason.
I look at this as one more way for Orange to get more money from customers and, if they don't agree to play it their way, they can just get the money other ways- by slapping on phone calls we didn't make. Honestly, without the itemised phone bill, how will we even know how they came to that figure?
If anyone has any ideas on what we can do about this or agrees with me, please do write in...0 -

How to get your Itemised Bill Free or Cancel Your Contract
OK for all you people out there livid at the fact that Orange just decide to increase the Itemised Billing charge from £0 to £1.50 mid way your 12 /18 month contract, this is how to make sure they do not get away with it.
Below is exactly how to do this (tested and works).
Tested on this case: mid 12 month contract, with 300 to 600 minute usage.
How to go about it:
1) Write in requesting that they cancel your contact in accordance with Clause 15.1 and 4.3 of my contract as they are increasing charges for Itemised Billing from £0 to £1.50. The contact can be downloaded from the main page of the orange web site at the very bottom where it says "terms and conditions" Request that they contact you with your PUK code so you can take your number with you and that due to the fact that they are causing this that no charges and penalties should be incurred by you.
2) They will write back saying one of the following: a) That itemised billing (charge or free) is not part of the contract. b) They are not increasing the charge as you do not have to have the Itemised Bill as you can opt out or download it free from the account area of the orange web site. They may also say that if you want to cancel you have to buy yourself out of the contract.
3) You then write to them opening an "Official Complaint" (important that you say this) informing them that you do not agree with their assessment of the situation and that you require them to cancel the contract and if they do not accept to do this you require them to send you a letter saying that the complaint has come to "deadlock" or "lockout", otherwise known as a Deadlock / Lockout letter. You inform them that you will be contacting CISAS (COMMUNICATIONS & INTERNET SERVICES ADJUDICATION SCHEME, they can be contacted on 02074217432).
4) At this point someone from orange WILL have already contacted you. They will offer to refund the itemised bill for the rest of the contact and if you request it they will cancel your contact.
FAQ
COMMUNICATIONS & INTERNET SERVICES ADJUDICATION SCHEME (CISAS):
These people take complaints that can not be resolved and decide who is right. Orange does NOT want it to get to them and will settle with you before then. Only contact CISAS if they have given you a lockout / deadlock letter and have not offered you anything.
Address to write to orange on:
Correspondence Department
PO Box 10
Pachway
Bristol
BS32 4BQ
Official Complaint:
It is important to rase an "Official Complaint" and get a Echo number to track it with.
TIPS and TRICKS
Orange will never accept fault or that they are in breach of contract.
Be firm but polite at all times.
Do NOT at any point show any doubt that you are correct and they are wrong.
Do not ask for unreasonable things. In this situation waving the Itemised Billing charge till the end of the contact id fair and termination of the contract is fair.0 -
Honestly, without the itemised phone bill, how will we even know how they came to that figure?
You could simply look at the itemised bill on line.
That's what I'm going to do.
To be honest I think it is more environmentally friendly even if that's not the motivation.

Is your third post going to be exactly the same as your first two?
Could you not simply refer to your previous post?

I think it is perfectly reasonable that they( not just orange but all of the networks) charge £1.50 for itemised billing, the reason being twofold. Obviously it saves paper and postage but does anyone consider their own identity security!
Personally I get all credit card, bank and mobile phone statements online. I save money by not paying for them and I have the peace of mind of my own information security.
If you get online billing, the catch is usually in the customer service charge to speak to the network. The secret is to go back through the retailer you bought it from. They can resolve issues or phone cs free on your behalf, assuming they are a reputable shop and not online.
Why would you want pages of your personal details posted to you every month?0 -
I agree that an itemised billing charge is reasonable, however the way in which this charge has been introduced, ie. on an opt-out basis and on existing contracts as well, shows that (1) the intention of saving paper is not 100% there; (2) they intend to make some money off people who forget to cancel the IB in time.
As mentioned before, itemised call details are very useful for checking if you've been overcharged. By making it more difficult to access your itemised calls (personally, it's not a big effort given I spend half my day online but I still find the Orange website slow to load and there's a few minutes' wait for the PDF bill to be downloaded) they have more opportunities to slip some extra charges in there.0 -
Got my June bill today (period ending 26th June) with my two contracts on it:
1 X Talk Time 200
1 X EQ T-Mobile Relax 100
Nothing on this bill about having to pay for itemised billing and there was nothing on my May bill either..0 -
There was a thread on here a week or two back about Orange introducing itemised billing from 1st July.
Just for info, I have received my Orange OVP Virgin bill dated 1st July and there was no itemised billing charge, just normal call and text charges as usual.
Looks like this plan will not attract this charge. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for confirming what I thought to be the case when this was announced in June. Was it mentioned at the bottom of your June statement?
