MSE.COM You have just saved me £400!! heres how.
Used Hatton Garden Metals last week 20/09/2012
94 grm 9ct Gold.
Price online £1173
Price in my bank £1204
Went to my local jewellers said nobody would beat their price of £800...said all online gold dealers were all con-men...mmmm
They advised the price they say online is never the same when they get hold of your gold...Derr wrong it was more.
Went on MSE to see who you reccomended went with HGM and so glad i did, i am £404.00 better off!! Thanks MSE and HGM one for the reccomend and two for an honest firm which is HGM which is very rare these days.:T
You can follow the process online once they have given you the access numbers...happy days.0 -
Used Hatton Garden Metals for the first time. Really impressed with the service I received. Posted items by special delivery on Monday and the money was in my account by lunch time on Tuesday. All broken jewellery 9ct gold, necklaces odd earrings etc. The money I received was what was quoted online. Would reccomend them to anyone!0

Used hgm after months of worrying about possible things going wrong especially as my gold bits were ex middle east and not hallmarked or marked in any way. I bought them as 18ct and offered them to hgm as such. They agreed with my submission and my money was in my account by the time I had read their e-mail.
No qualms whatsoever in giving the highest recommendation possible. Many thanks to hgm and MSE.0 -
I read MSE's article on Hatton Garden Metals and having already sent my gold to the Tesco partner, decided to re-send it to Hatton Garden Metals. I got £35 extra and the service was excellent. The service with the Tesco partner was also good - just not the right price. I say - go for it!0

Used HGM in October 2012, and was most impressed with efficiency and ease of sale, as well as the good price and clear explanations of how it was reached. I'd previously taken items to a number of shops in Hatton Garden, but none had offered prices as good (I'd hoped to sell some items as pieces of jewllery rather than for scrap, but this proved impossible). My only tip would be that HGM seem to be closed over the weekend, so if you're posting on a Friday don't bother with the higher priced 'next day' special delivery, go for the cheaper special delivery and it'll still get there for Monday when they open.0

I posted my gold yesterday afternoon to Hatton Garden Metals using Special Delivery. Everything went to plan and my money was in my bank account by midday today.I was somewhat anxious about posting my gold but the other threads were so positive and the gold prices quoted the best around that I went ahead.
I am delighted with the service and will certainly tell my friends and family about it.0 -
HGM seem very good however I am worried about send my gold via mail. HGM recommend Special Delivery but special delivery limited to £2500 value and there do not seem to be any higher value options.
HGM have offered me the option of personal delivery to their London office however this is very inconvenient at the moment as I don't live very close to London.
Has anyone used a courier or similar with decent insurance to send gold over £2500 to HGM? if so who.
Thanks0 -

If you cannot take it yourself to central London, it would help to know (roughly) where you live.
Given a price printed out from HGM there are likely to be other firms who can match it in (say) Birmingham, if that is more convenient.
Courier driving is the job done (sometimes) by those who are not good enough to qualify as a taxi driver - you could ask for a named driver and ask for ID and a copy of his Criminal Record Certificate but that rather draws attention to the fact that your parcel might be valuable;) as does the delivery address.
Don't forget there is a fee just for driving inside central London, not to mention the stress and hassle of driving and parking. I would do the job with a Granny basket on wheels via public transport.:D0 -
I used Hatton Garden Metals this week. Got a quote for some old gold jewellery, which the wife couldn't believe was true...sent it all off YESTERDAY special delivery and the money was paid into my bank account TODAY!! The result was about £30 less than quoted, but more than fair and expected as there were a few stones that needed to be removed. Was still much more than we ever expected for some old jewellery we didn't wear. Will definitely use this company again!0
