Yesterday I posted some 9ct, 14ct and 18ct gold to Hatton Garden Metals via Special Delivery. It was approximately 70gms and it cost me $6.35 for compensation of$1000.
I received an e-mail today at 12.19 telling me what had been paid into my bank account and the gold price has gone up slightly from yesterday, so I got more than expected. I checked my bank account and the money was in there.
There were minor discrepancies in the weight of the gold e.g. 18.9gms instead of 19, but I put it down to my scales not being 100% accurate.
I was extremely impressed with the service and wouldn't hesitate to use them again or to recommend them.0 -

Slight correction to your perception:
"I got more than expected, because the value our our "funny money" had gone down in value........".

Do you buy a Special Delivery envelope at the post office or do you just wrap it up yourself and they put SD paid sticker on it?
Thank you.
You can put stuff in your own envelope and the PO will put stickers on it; or the PO can sell you a prepaid special delivery envelope / bag. Note: You still need to take the prepaid bag to the post office to post. Don't just pop it in the post box.0 -
Hattons are one of the honest companies that actually do pay the advertised price, www.scrapgolduk.co.uk are also reputable and paid more when they actually received the package because the gold price had gone up, they also have a red banner at the top of their site warning about some of the tactics used by their competitors... There are a few companies out i've seen advertise they buy gold at more than the live price! How can that be right?0

I have a few small share holdings and regularly get telephone calls from scammers making (almost certainly) fraudulent offers to in some way handle my share holdings.
Scum.0 -
Hi all,
No doubt this will not get posted by the mods...
Having used this site ( Hatton Garden Metals) out of pure curiosity, I work in the gold trade as an assayer and know through contacts Gary Ryan at Hatton Garden Metals. All I can say after using this postal gold service, they are ripping people off. This has happened to me twice now and under the law of averages they must be doing it with at least 50% of their customers.
The question is why have they got so many happy customers on this site in particular?? The mind boggles. Gary and Barbara must me employing half of Bombay to create these accounts on MSE, some of them with hundreds of posts as history.
Hatton Garden Metals under weighed each package I sent to them - guys and girls that is how they make their money. Forget about the gold calculators on their site – they cant make money on these quotes with the overheads they have - office and shop in St Cross Street in Hatton Garden.
But the big question is why does an esteemed site like MSE promote HGM as the best postal gold service when clearly they are not ??
Shop about folks and don’t read everything you see on sites like this :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I used Hatton Garden last week.
I had a very small amount of gold, 5.3 grams. It was mostly just crushed earrings. I had taken it to local jewellers first so I could get it weighed accurately as I didn't trust my old kitchen scales.
I was offered £35 from one of the High Street stores.
Sent my gold off on Monday 13th Feb.
Tuesday morning I was very concerned when I saw my packaged had been signed for by 'A Hole'
I was paid by 12.30pm, around £67, slightly more than I had been quoted, and almost double what the high street store offered.
I was dubious at first. Many of the posts in this topic are from newbies, but I was very impressed with their service and would recommend them.0 -

We are all entitled to our opinion based on personal experience. I have no connection with HGM but have got a good price from them.
As you are in 'the industry', it would perhaps help others if you had a recommendation for a better company for people to try.0 -
There you go TTC 40 has preserved your posting.
I have not been East of Turkey at least not travelling at ground level; Bombay beckons.
They need you at the Royal Mint to advise on how to redesign the £1 coin. It seems that something like 10% could be fakes.0
