I had a few old broken/unused gold items to sell which to be honest, I probably would have thrown or sold at a car boot. I checked prices on the high street and they offered me £140 compared to the £245 I received from Hatton Garden. I was a bit worried sending the jewellery off (even using special delivery) but it was all fine! Im so happy with the service they provide, the money was in my bank within 24 hours of me sending the items to them.
- When did you use it ... February 2012
- What did you send it ..... 17g of 9ct gold chains and 2g of 14ct gold
- How much did it promise you .... £245
- How much did it deliver .... £245
- How efficient was the service .... BRILLIANT!!!
- If it didn't deliver the full amount, what was its reason....N/A
- Anything else other people should know .... Nothing I don't think!

Sent off some old dental crowns on Monday with no clear idea of what they were worth or whether it was even worth doing. A couple of years ago sellmygold.com offered about £12, which I refused. It was a pretty gross package as some of the crowns still had teeth attached (my father-in-law was a dentist years ago). The whole package weighed about 40g but this included the teeth - net weight 28g. HGM rang me this morning to say they would have melt the whole lot down at a cost of £20 - when I asked if it was worth doing, they said they thought it would be.
They have just deposited £583 in my bank account!!!
Thanks Moneysaving expert.com and thank Hatton Garden Metals!0 -
This is my first encounter with the gold selling market and what a great experience it was.
HGM's website is intuitive and easy to use; their communication is excellent.
All in all, they agreed with my weights and the gold price was slightly higher so got a few quid more than expected.
I took the Homebase reward card as I wanted to use the sale to pay for decorating material so got 10% extra. The card arrived a day later was activated via the website and worked perfectly at Homebase.
Now, back to painting that ceiling...0 -
BEWARE!!! always get your items checked at a jewellers before you send, they tried to tell me a gold chain i sent them wasnt gold. Had to call them and get them to re-test it and it was gold. I nearly lost £100 just because they didnt test it properly! Otherwise the service was good and i was paid the same day the gold was recieved.

! I've just sent mine off at the post office really nervous about it - hate taking risks! I've been to a few jewellers and couldn't get close and I must say got very very shirty with me when I did not want to accept the price offered just hope I don't get my fingers burnt - but still wouldn't go back to the jewellers who were rude out of principle I do understand why they are annoyed but if I can (and I hope I can) get a better deal somewhere else I'd be stupid not to ... Keep you posted :-/0

Just had a call quoted £1059.75 on net actual £1043 due to metal strengthener bar in bracelet money should be in account this afternoon :-)0

Do you buy a Special Delivery envelope at the post office or do you just wrap it up yourself and they put SD paid sticker on it?
Thank you.0 -
You can just put it in an envelope & they will put the SD sticker on - make sure the envelope is big enough to have enough space for a couple of large stickers.
I sent a silver bracelet off yesterday. Only about £46 but as ever a great service & paid what was promised.0
