How much are people paying for special delivery?

i paid 8.65 for special delivery insured upto 2500, i think insured up to 500 is a few pounds less
  • I had some gold to sell so I checked out MSE views on companies to use. I chose HGM and I'm very pleased I did.

I posted some gold and silver off to them yesterday morning Special Delivery and the money is already in my account!

I received slightly less than I expected because my digital scales rounded 42.7g up to 43 and the price of gold had dropped by a couple of pence overnight but nevertheless I am delighted by their quick and efficient service.

I am going to have to resist the urge to send them some more!:rotfl:

    Fantastic service

Can highly, highly recommend and I'm no first time poster :D so no worries re credibility.:p

Have dithered for years about selling my old broken jewelry, just never got round to it. Had a clearout yesterday and decided to go for it. First checked on here, as you do ;) and read about Hatton Garden Metals.

Found the whole process very simple, very easy, smooth and efficient.

When did you use it- November 2011
What did you send it- Scraps of jewelry, that had been lying in drawers, pots and boxes round the house for years. Sent gold, platinum and silver rings, lots of silver earrings and a few bracelets which were also silver.
How much did it promise you- £280 ish something
How much did it deliver-£400 plus I'd miscalculated how much I'd sent.
How efficient was the service- Beyond fantastic!
If it didn't deliver the full amount, what was its reason- They delivered way OVER the full amount because I can't weigh my jewelry properly :o They also identified it for whatever it was as I had no clue, especially with the gold carat.
Anything else other people should know- If you have broken or scrap jewelry, gold, platinum or silver, collect it, weigh it, get it bagged up and send it off to Hatton Garden Metals for super quick result and money in your bank the next day.

You could be sitting on a small fortune.

Btw I managed to prise a few of the diamonds from some of the rings out myself by using a couple of pliers and some brute force. You don't get any extra for precious stones so its worth getting them out of the jewelry and keeping or selling them on to someone else.

hi i payed £5.43 i think yesterday hope this helps
  • I sent my jewellery off yesterday - I'll let you know when I hear back.
  • I sent my gold off after coming across this thread a few days ago - I received the money for my jewellery into my bank account today.

No problems at all with this company. Highly recommended.
  • I sent my old bits of broken silver and gold jewellery to Hatton Garden Metals after being prompted by MSE email. I wasn't even sure it was all silver or gold. I was quoted £244 and received £342!! I can't believe it. I would definitely recommend this trustworthy company.
  • I took some bits of old gold and silver to a high street jewellers who gave me a valuation of under £60. This same jewellery netted me over £101 from HGM - just 24 hours after posting it I had the money in my paypal account. Very impressed.
    • When did you use it=today:-posted from Scotland yesterday
    • What did you send it=9 carat gold necklace
    • How much did it promise you=£747
    • How much did it deliver=£767
    • How efficient was the service=like lightning
    • If it didn't deliver the full amount, what was its reason=n/a
    • Anything else other people should know........

I had an old necklace. It had 375 hallmark on it,so I priced it up and value was £747.I sent it special delivery for £6.50(up to £750;-although the post office worker seemed only interested in using the £500 option for about £5.50),I got an e-mail at about 11am today saying the money was sitting in my bank account(one thing that it doesnt mention anywhere is that there is "no offer" option-I basically sold it by sending it.Maybe someone can find out if they do get back to someone if there is a discrepancy somewhere, like weight or basically someone wont be getting as much as expected and pull out of the sale)

    I still cant believe it..............superb
