Inspired by comments on this thread I decided to give Hatton Garden Metals a go.

I had a few quotes from a jewelers & one of those Sell Your Gold shops that are springing up all over the place. Hatton's online calculator gave a higher quote so I used Special Delivery mail & it arrived the next day.

I got a email that morning saying a couple of items weighed lower than what I stated. I was happy to proceed so authorised them to go ahead. An hour later I got a confirmed final figure & the money was paid into my account minutes after that. The amount was lower than the quote I got the day before due to the differences in weight & the price of gold had decresed slightly.

Overall I was happy with the service as it was very quick & more importantly provided higher quotes that on the high street. I'd still shop around though & get a few quotes before you decide what to do as the price varies so much.

Based on comments here I sent my mum's old gold by Special Delivery yesterday as she could really do with the cash.

I haven't heard anything at all today so I checked if the parcel had been delivered. It says they've had to leave a card as there's no one there.

Tried ringing and there's just a recorded message, though is says they are open 9-4pm Monday to Friday on the web-site.

I'll see what happens on Monday, but I hope I can get my parcel back if something's wrong!

Just had a phone call from very nice lady at Hatton. She said they don't get cards left, they sometimes have trouble with the post office who don't delivery the parcels on time so leave them until the next day and use any excuse for their non delivery. She says it will probably arrive on Monday, hope so!

Checked Royal Mail and my parcel was delivered today (so much for next day service, I'll be phoning them!). Money in my account at 2.45pm, slightly less than quoted due to non-gold items, but I'm fine with that as I wasn't sure on some of the things. Absolutely delighted, highly recommended!

I don't usually bother to comment on forums but the service from HGM is very impressive. Posted items to them Monday morning and by lunchtime Tuesday had had email confirmation of the rates and the money was in my bank account and only slightly down on the calculation from the calculator on their website (which was expected due to stones in earrings etc) but realized more than we expected. A great service from HGM and thanks Martin for featuring them in your newsletter - I wouldn't have bothered to even try to sell my bits and pieces if I hadn't read your report.

having lurked here for a while and usually i can be found on Loquax i thought a post was well overdue I posted to Hattongarden metals yesterday after a week of searching for reviews and calling them twice, my estimate was 40grams of 9ct and 2 of 18ct and at yesterdays price was roughly £575 total, they have today paid into my account £568 my scales were slightly over on the 9ct and under on the 18ct so very happy :j especially as a local jeweller only offered me £400

I sent my gold and some silver yesterday at 1pm, i was expecting around £310, i recieved an email at 11.15 today.
the amount i recieved was £483.26.
what honest people, they made the weight heavier than i had and also had put some as 9ct when it was 14 and 18ct,
I cannot recommend this company highly enough,as well as their honesty,

Sent package (properly insured) yesterday at 4.30pm - money in my account by 4pm today! Not as much as estimate but my scales were of dubious accuracy and 3 watches had innards to discount.

I said all the gold was 9ct but they pointed out and paid for a small amount of 14ct and 18ct too so very satisfied!

P.S. Online receipt from Royal Mail shows "A. Hole" signed for my package which would have been worrying if the cash hadn't appeared so quickly.

I decided to give HGM a go after reading the reviews on here. I dug out a few bits of gold that hadn't been used for years. Weighed it on my kitchen scales, then filled the information in on their website. They quoted me £335 and I was amazed!!! Just for a small amount of old gold that fit in the palm of my hand..... Anyway I printed out the email as requested and stuck it in a jiffy bag with the gold. I sent it special delivery on a Tuesday lunchtime and only 24 hours later I received an email confirming that £356 had been deposited into my bank account.......WOW!!! I can't recommend HGM enough!!!:beer:

I used them earlier in the week.

I had some Gold necklaces I wanted to get rid of had no ideal what they were worth so took them to a local jewelery shop and he offered me £90 which I said no to.

Was reading about Hatton Garden on this site so I decided to send it to them.

Sent the Gold to them at about 11am Tuesday and Wednesday Morning I got an email telling me what weight they were and they would pay me nearly £550. I couldn't believe it and told them to go ahead and about 2 hours later the money was in my bank account.

So thanks to this site I made nearly £460 more than I would have done.

And thanks to Hatton garden for a quick, good and friendly service.
