After seeing tip in the email I decided to send some items off, all the items were essentially 'junk' - cheap gold earrings and broken stuff so I had nothing to lose. I was a bit wary that a lot of the posts were made by newbies but HGM have a link to this thread in the email that they send you when they tell you how much they have paid for the items.

"I do hope that you are happy with the service we provide. If so, please can you mention us to your family and friends. You can also use the forum on the Monery Saving Expert site to leave your comments - link

Posted by special delivery yesterday (12th August), signed for at 7:30 am today (13th August) and the money was in my bank just a few hours later at 1pm.

Promised £241 for 27g of gold and received exactly what I was quoted.

Can't praise them highly enough :T

  • When I got my online quote I really thought it was too good to be true but am delighted to report that it was completely true ... I still can't believe how much money my old gold has made me!

    When did you use it
Posted late by special delivery on Friday 13th August

    What did you send it
161 g of 9 ct gold (some of it not hallmarked)
4 grms of 18 ct gold

How much did it promise you
    £1501

    How much did it deliver
    £1481. :j Still pinching myself!
They actually paid out a higher price per gram than that quoted on Friday

My sister also sent her gold the same day and got the full £1700 she was quoted.

    How efficient was the service
Unbelievably fast and efficient. Money was in my account today (Monday 16th). Excellent communication by email throughout. Fantastic!

If it didn't deliver the full amount, what was its reason
Due to stones in earrings and jewellery but this was made clear at the outset.

Anything else other people should know
Just before sending gold off, I popped into a local jeweller to get a quote from him. When I told him how much Hatton Gold were paying per gram he assured me that it must be some kind of a scam and was adamant that there was no way I would receive that kind of money from anyone. He spoke to me as if I was a deluded woman who was about to be ripped off! Can't wait to show him the proof and wipe the smug smile off his face! :p
  • I would recommend HGM to anyone looking to cash in on any unused broken gold. Not only are they prompt in payment they paid out more than i was quoted. Their website is easy to use and the whole service was without fault

I used it within the last week

I sent what I believed to be 9g of 9ct, 3g of 12ct and 70g silver although I wasn't sure about a couple of items.

I worked out that I would receive around £121.50 if all the items were as I thought they were.

Actually received £94.70 within 2 hours of the items being delivered. 8.3g of 9ct and 70g silver was paid for and the rate had increased slightly overnight which meant a little bit more for me.

The service was very good. I sent the items on Friday by special delivery. Checked mid morning on Monday that they had arrived and received money straight into my account by lunchtime.

The amount I received was less than expected because a cufflink I thought was 12ct gold was only plated. I requested not to have it returned.

I found HGM to be helpful and efficient. I only had a few small items sitting in the drawer so to have received £95 was great! I haven't tried any other companies or taken the gold to be valued elsewhere so I've nothing to compare them too but I would definitely recommend them.

Thanks to the MSE team, yesterday I weighed some old broken gold and was amazed to find there was 40g (I expected it to be about 5g).

I went to the Hatton Garden website and got an estimate of £361. I was stunned:eek:

I immediately sent my gold off special delivery, as requsted by them, which cost me £5.05.

I had an email today, confirming that there was in fact 39.40 grams and the monetary value was £354.75. The payment was made and was in my bank account within a couple of hours.

I can't thank Martin and the team enough - thanks to them I'm £350 better off and this is on top of reclaiming PPI last year and getting our Council Tax reduced in June.

If the Team told me that black was white - I'd believe!!!

By the way - dunno if it wil help, but I emailed them stating that I thought that they should affiliate with MSE, as it was recommending them and obviously bringing them some custom. Hope it helps...
