I was a little concerned at very little mention of returning your gold if the offer wasnt acceptable...but after thinking about it, if theyre offering top rates, they arent going to expect people to pay £5 or £6 to send it....to ask for it back.....and waste their initial postage.

I also noticed that one or two dealers were giving the "scrap price" a bit higher.....

but it was this forum that made me decide.....you cant beat multi recommendations...

When did you use it ......Sent it off Mon 16th August
What did you send........39.1 gms of 18ct
How much did it promise you...... £705(that was price on calculator)....
How much did it deliver ...£702.30 (Bacs transfer same day)
How efficient was the service...very efficient
If it didn't deliver the full amount, what was its reason, price dropped slightly...
Anything else other people should know I 100% recommend them, this is £200 more than the locals were offering...
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

  • I dug out all my old minging bling (used to work at a high street jeweller about 20 years ago so had lots of it!) and waited til the guide was published. Went with HGM on :money:'s recommendation, very, very pleased. Sent it Friday, they received Monday, emailed me straight away to confirm overall weight and price (differed by 5g as two items were not gold) - still got....£794.21!!!!! Chuffed to bits as it was all in my jewellery box gathering dust - and was paid in via BACS on the Monday too, KEERRR_CHING! We were expecting a couple of hundred quid tops! Would definitely recommend to other people to use.:j Thank you MSE for recommending!:A
  • After reading the top gold sites on here, i thought id give it a go. i had a few broken jewellery pieces that i had for years, that couldnt be worn again. So i clicked onto the Hatton Garden Metals website, and it was so easy to use. You can get a quote for your gold before registering and even sending, so you have a rough idea of how much you are going to get. Fill in your details, and send it off by special delivery. I posted on monday 16th august and on tuesday 17th august they had received it, sent me an email to tell me how much it was worth and put the money in my bank account the same day!! Talk about fast service!!! i was extremely impressed with them, and if i find more gold i will be using them again! a HUGE thumbs up!!! :)

  • Hi
I used Hatton Garden Metals yesterday after looking a MSE link from weekly email.

I had 23g (weighed on kitchen digital scales) of gold laying about (broken stuff, odd earings tiny chains that come with a pendant.)

I looked on the website and they offered £207 which is brilliant, I didn't think it would be worth that (is this too good to be true I thought)

I tried Ramsdens, they offered £143. So I went into town and saw the man in the shopping centre, he offered £130.

I went back on the website filled in some details and printed off the confirmation email, and sent it Special delivery (£5.05).

This morning I checked they had received it (they did at 07.51).

At just gone 2 I got an email saying my 22.3g was worth £200.87, I checked my bank and the money was there.

    Awesome service, highly recommended.

(posting OBO of an email recipient, but not a registered user - so he can't post).

Old gold bling bought years ago in the middle east. Two local 'reputable' jewellers offered £300 and £317 whereas HGM promised and delivered £688

I sent 22 grammes of old broken gold jewellery on Monday by Special Delivery and was informed that I had £198.09 paid into my bank account on Tuesday - just under 24 hours since I had posted it !!! I think that is excellent service and I would definitely recommend Hatton Garden Metals to anyone wanting to sell their scrap gold.

    Many thanks to MoneySaving Expert.
  • I had a high value designer gold necklace. I "ummed and arrrhed" about putting it on ebay to see if I could get a bit more than the scrap value but by the time ebay and paypal fees have been paid and there being no guarantee that it would sell (to an honest buyer who wouldn't try to pull a fast one saying it had not been delivered etc) I decided to sell to Hattongardenmetals. Posted it Monday special delivery, and payment in my bank account Tuesday. They are tip top on communication, efficiency and their price per gram. :T

The gold buyers in the local shopping centre were paying much less than that of Hattongardenmetals.

I was wary about putting gold in the post but sometimes you just have to take a little risk in life, and on this occasion all was fine and dandy.

I got the price quoted when I typed in the weight of the gold on their website.

    Hi all

Use HGM with confidence. I posted mine off on Tuesday am and the money was in the bank on Wednesday. I paid £8.05 post as I wanted the extra insurance - easy to do at the post office.

HGM mailed me with a personal contact, my estimate was a bit out because I wasn't sure the bits and pieces were all gold. So I just took a chance and put the not sure things in the 9 carat section. I got back more than my estimate.

I took some rings - only glass or cheap damaged stones to the local jewellers to confirm it was just gold value - I bashed the stones out before sending - so I could judge the weight better. The rest was made up of chains and necklaces (from the 1980s), mostly broken.

The result was great for me.

    GOLD 18ct: 9.50 @ £18.02 = £171.14
    GOLD 14ct: 3.60 @ £14.01 = £50.44
    GOLD 9ct: 127.20 @ £9.01 = £1145.77 (£6.70 offered at Jewellers)

    Total = £1367.35 :T

I would be very confident to use them again.
