Hi all, Well I sent off 43g of silver (some stones) and 6g of white gold (9 carat) although it had tiny stones in and I got £66.90 (had weighed it and calculated at around £69 but obviously that was just my kitchen scales and didnt account for stones) so i'd say a fair offer as webuyoldgold.co.uk only offered me £37!
Credit is in my bank now and only posted yesterday so Id say Hatton Garden Metals pretty fair offer and quick service.0 -
When did you use it 2nd June 2010
What did you send in 9ct gold jewellary and sovereign coins
How much did it promise you £1150
How much did it deliver £1154
How efficient was the service - Very efficient - posted Wednesday (yesterday) and money in bank Thursday (today).
If it didn't deliver the full amount, what was its reason - I weighed the gold on my kitchen scales which are not as accurate as the scales they use, plus I was selling coins and having watched the prices for the past few weeks I could see the price fluctuations so knew that there could be a difference of a few pounds either way.
Anything else other people should know - I think this is a very good service and like many other people who have responded to this thread I had been offered less tha half the price that HGM have given me by a local coin dealer. It was nice that the money came to me because I am pretty sure the local dealer would have slipped the coins into an envelope and sent them to HGM and made the profit for himself.0 -
Just another post from me about HGM.
Yesterday I sent in my old junk jewellery and got £120. That's over £500 I've had from them now just for stuff that was either broken, or I wouldn't ever wear again because it was trash. I've left a post on this thread before but just wanted to tell everyone that HGM really are the best around.
I got several quotes for my junk jewellery. A local jeweller was offering me £80 so of course I had to use HGM again. I also spotted HGM's link for this site which wasn't on the last time I used them and promised HGM that I would leave another message saying how great they are, just because I'm a long time member, unlike many others. (no offence to new posters of course)
So, thanks again HGM, I don't think I'll ever use anyone else (not that I've got anymore gold left now lol)Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0 -
Hi All
I have around 50g of jewellery which I dont wear anymore and decided to sell it as the price of gold is really good at the moment. Checked out local shops who are only giving £8-8.50 per gram. Came across Hatton Garden Metals by pure chance and read the reviews on here. Decided to give them a go. My gold is being sent today and fingers crossed arrives safely. For 50g I should get about £470 if the price stays the same around £9.45. I will let you know how I go on.:)0 -
I've used HGM half a dozen times, and I wouldn't go anywhere else.
They pay 95% of the bullion price on the morning they receive the shipment, and pay immediately - the money is available in my account by lunchtime.
Any variation between the quote they give and the money received has been due purely to changes in the gold price in the meantime.
They'll pay by BACS or into Paypal (and I daresay by cheque if you request it).
I've sent un-hall-marked gold, guessing 9 carat, and had it paid out at 14 carat (but also vice versa!).
My only quibble: their form doesn't have a section for gold of unknown carats - my tip is to use the "fill in your own carats" box, claim it as 9, and add your own note to the paperwork.0 -
Sent off my unwanted gold, all 9 carat (no stones) by SD, 6pm today (£5.05 cost)...crossing everything, not just me fingers !!0

I have used other gold companies in the past and I have got to say Hatton Garden Metals is the best one I have ever used.
Gold price 07/06/10 - £9.67 X 28.8g
Sent gold Friday 04/06/10
£278.50 paid into my account Monday 07/06/10
I calculated the weight and price of the gold before I sent of the goods and they came back to me with a matching weight to the decimal point!
I didn’t get the same issues I have had in the past with other gold companies that ring me when they got the gold and then tell me the price has dropped by £2 a gram when the stock price hasn’t even changed and then I find myself chasing my money for weeks.
I was quoted £6.53 at a gold shop in Stockport / Manchester so if you want a good return on your gold then I can honestly say use Hatton Garden Metals and cut out the middle man “the shops” that will have you over a barrel!

After sending my gold yesterday it arrived this morning at HGM. To my joy the price of gold went up today to £9.98. At lunchtime I received a call from HGM saying my weight was less than I had put down, 50g down to 44g to which I agreed to. I have just received my confirmation email of which my weight has been reduced again to 39.30g as two items were not gold, which I did suspect. Even though I am a little disappointed in not getting the full 50g or even 44g at least I am getting a very decent price. Hopefully £392 will be in the bank later today or tomorrow.
One of my work colleagues sent her gold at the same time as mine and she is also very happy with the outcome. She weighed hers at 30g but in fact it was 28.8g.
I would certainly recommend HGM and in fact my mum is going to send her gold and four of my work colleagues are as well.

Just checked my bank online and my money has gone in. WOW how quick was that. Definitely pleased with the service received by HGM.
Just need some more gold now.
Thank you HGM :T0 -
When did you use it - sent SD 07/06/10 arrived 08.22am 08/06/10 cost of £5.05
What did you send it - 38g 9 carat gold, no stones (weighed on ww (!!) kitchen digital scales
How much did it promise you - 38g x £9.67=£367.46
How much did it deliver - GOLD 9ct: 37.80 g @ £9.98 (price had gone up this morning) = £377.24
How efficient was the service - Speedy, 1st class, no problem
If it didn't deliver the full amount, what was its reason - Happy with my kitchen scales being 0.2g out...think they only weight to the nearest g. Very happy gold price went up, so got more than first thought!!
Anything else other people should know - email remittance came 08/06/10 13:59, paid by BACS, arrived in my bank account approx 1hr later. Done and dusted within 21 hours for me
The highest I'd been quoted in a jeweller's was £272.
So £377.24 - £5.05 = £372.19 less £272 jeweller quote = £100.19 up on the high street.
I had to dare myself to post my gold...but in my case, well worth it - cannot praise them enough and thanks to previous posters :T0
